Nvidias new lineup when to expect?

Thread Starter
I was wondering when should we expect their new lineup i hear early 2012, i was wondering if they got any other word around, and are we looking at atleast a 20 to 30 % boost from previous gen?

That's what I've been reading. The big thing about 28nm fabrication will be not requiring as much power consumption and going 'green' with efficiency.

In fact 50% less power per watt to run. Imagine running three GTX 680's with one 850 Watt PSU with 15% more performance than current GTX 580's that require 1000 watt PSU to run.

Do we really need them?

Not really, only in surround scenarios which require larger frame buffers. But quite frankly existing GPU's do well enough as it is. The thing that annoys me over the last few years is the games that get released, none of them need much horsepower to be maxed out @ 1080p. Until we see better 120Hz displays with higher resolutions, newer GPU's just aren't needed at present. For surround they will be worth the upgrade, especially in terms of power draw and efficiency. But single display users can happily run a GTX570/580 with full eye candy.

In a nutshell it's screen technology that's behind the times and needs to catch up.

I would be perfectly happy with a minimal performance boost but a huge efficiency boost. Folders, case builders and modders, HTPC and SSF users should all be excited at the prospect of doing more with less power.
