Thread Starter
Well I'm looking to put Ubuntu 11.10 on my moms laptop because it is running really slow and crappy with windows (vista at that... blah) and basically she just uses it for web browsing pictures and music so i think it will work for her but i need to know if its possible to install Itunes on Ubuntu though wine or somehow?

I'm afraid so, I've been checking every so often on the progress of Wine and various apps and iTunes has always been a problem.

There are several other media players available and I'm sure some allow syncing to various iDevices.

Yes but she needs it for her Ipod...

edit: lmao apple is a big baby about what can and cant work with their stuff i would be highly surprised if there was anything that allowed syncing to an ipod

iTunes. *shudders*

Installing that wont do the laptop any favors if you're trying to speed it up. tongue.gif

Rhythmbox allows you to transfer music to your iPod and it's a pretty decent media player. Why not give it a try?

If it's not pre-installed, then it should be available from the repos / (Software Center?).

anything is faster than what its got now... it takes less time for my grandpas computer with a 1ghz processor and under 1gb of ram to startup...
