If it's not pre-installed, then it should be available from the repos / (Software Center?).

Whaaaaa? well.. i guess ill have to look into that if it works then yippie no iTunes!

Good luck. Even though most music managers in Linux now have support to sync with ipods (most ipods) it still sounded like hit or miss. So tell us how it goes for you. Also, if Rythmbox doesn't work out Banshee or Amarok might.

I think the best iDevice tunes loader I've used on Linux has been Floola.

I haven't used it in about six months now though, so I don't know what the later versions are like. But when I was using it, it allowed me to update my music (add, delete, edit songs and playlists) with no problems.

Beyond that Banshee I believe also has iTunes support, or GTKpod should also work but I think both of these are slightly more complicated to set up compared to Floola.

Best of luck!

Most full-featured media players nowadays support device syncing (that includes iToys). The only reason you'd ever need iTunes on any OS is if you want to update the firmware on the device.

Only thing you need iTunes for is updating any idevice. Syncing etc. can be done with any good media player (I use MediaMonkey on my Windows 7 PC). Last time I needed to sync with an iPod on Ubuntu I believe I used Amarok.
