Hey guys, I've narrowed down a selection of phones and carriers down to two:

Verizon - Google's Galaxy Nexus

Sprint - GSII or Galaxy Nexus (if it EVER would come out they are getting this madsmiley.png phone!)

My question comes to you guys as this, with the double data upgrade being available from Verizon I'm debating whether I should wait to see if there is any chance Google/carriers get the stick out of their bums and announce who the F will be selling the Galaxy Nexus, other than Verizon, or if I should just purchase the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.

I don't have a clue how much data I'll be using on this phone which is what scares me with Verizon's data plans. Lets be honest, the data plans are out of this world expensive for even 2GB of data and every moment I look at them Sprint's unlimited looks more and more appealing.

With data plans at:
2GB $30
5GB $50
10GB $80

I'm looking at a phone bill of $90, $110, or $130 which is steep for just a phone IMO but I guess it is what it is. Now if these stupid companies allowed me to drop minutes to a lower amount or altogether there wouldn't be a problem but of course I have to be stuck with 450min/month that I'll NEVER use and end up paying $40 for it (just unreal how much these companies shaft you for services like talk).

My usage for the phone would include pretty small amounts of emails and not a lot of web browsing as I'm in front of a computer for work and at home. Streaming music and video would be where I would start to get worried I guess. I would like to use Spotify as I really enjoy using this program for my music but I don't honestly feel like paying $10 just to get music delivered to me when I can use Slacker or Pandora (although random I still like it's choices for the most part) for free. At this point I think the 2(4)Gig plan would suffice as I don't think I would go over 4gigs of data but let me know how your usage is. Thanks in advance

Verizon has a promotion going on at the moment for double data if you buy the 2gb or higher packages.

Yeah, I know, that is kind of why this is up in the air I guess. Trying to figure out if the 2GB plan will be enough, giving me 4gigs because of the deal instead of spending more money to get 5(10)gigs. I've used the data calculator and I can't really get above 4gigs unless I try real hard so I think I'm going to go with Verizon's 2/4GB plan and get the Nexus Galaxy when it is released

On my Atrix I don't normaly use more the 1GB, I end up using alot more wifi then that tho. My plan is supposedly unlimited, I wouldn't wan't to go over 2gb though.

Straight Talk, $45 a month.

I streamed ~2GB of music/radio when I drove down to North Carolina this summer. Was running MIUI that I flashed a few days prior to the trip, and upon checking my data usage when we arrived it was around 2GB. I used my wifi at home before leaving. Streamed a combo of google music and tunein radio.

If you plan on using it constantly at work, you'll have to chose between the better/faster network (Verizon) or unlimited data (Sprint). Fortunately I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan with Verizon.

I would personally go with Verizon and take advantage of the double data plan and get 4GB for the price of 2GB. You can download google music when on wifi and listen to it without streaming it, and Opera mini compresses webpages before sending them to your phone which cuts down on data usage.

Also, ICS will have a built in data monitor.

Yeah, this is exactly what my thought was for why I might need more data, those longer trips to places but I also have my Zune (a what?) to play my music if I didn't want to stream for a long trip. Work has wifi as I work on a campus and obviously I'd use wifi at home as well. Being that I'm on this site, I would go with the better/faster network over unlimited data if I don't have to worry too much about data so you've helped sway me towards Verizon +rep biggrin.gif

Unless I stream or tether, I use less than 1GB per month for email, web browsing, some app downloads, etc.

I use probably about 8-10 gigabytes a month, and I wouldn't even call myself a really heavy user. 4G lte is extremely fast, and as a result, you're going to use a lot of data. I'd jump on Sprint, they are moving to lte, and they are still offering unlimited data. I guarantee if you tie yourself down to a tiered plan, you'll regret it. It's like a constant burden over your shoulder of "how much data have I used this month"
