Well before I purchased I figured I would get some advice.

My current setup is this:

Phenom II x4 830 Stock speed

Biostar A880G+ mobo

4GB of economy Gskill ram 1333

AMD XFX HD 5830


Will this setup be enough to enjoy battlefield 3 or will it look like crap on lowest setting?

If I should wait untill I upgrade my rig further what upgrade should be next inline to net me better FPS in games? Should it be a motherboard so I can overclock my CPU to where it should be? Or get a Better GPU first then mobo later? Thanks for advice in advanced.

Itll run fine. Just dont run AA and HBAO. The game still looks gorgeous at low settings. Youll probably even be able to pull off medium settings fine.


As far as ur pc goes. i would get a 2500k and asus p8p67 pro. As far as your video card id upgrade it when you can.... but its still a decent card.

It should be fine on low and probably on medium. I would get a new motherboard with a 2500k and get a better GPU or crossfire the 5830 you have later on.

Ya I had a 2500k and OC'ed the crap out of it I love them, but I think a phenom quad will pull its weight just fine for now. Gonna see how Ivy pans out before I get new platform.

So if I wanted to max the game out sticking with a phenom new motherboard I would assume be in order, and try and xfire my 5830 or get all new gpu together?

Dunno, I had a huge bottleneck with 2 5870s in CF (had a 965 BE), also max the game out is "hard", I can't even do it, probably because of my vram. So get a P8P67 and a 2500k, you could stick with the 5830 and crossfire it if you can find a cheap used one somewhere.

Hmm ok so If i where to jump ship sooner back to a 2500k with a decent mobo, and found a cheap 5830 to xfire theoretically what kind of fps would you think I would see maxing out a game like BFBC2 or crysis 2? Also, I doubt the 830 would bottleneck a low grade card like a 5830 even with 2 of them.

Keep what you've got now; just upgrade to a GTX 580.

Simple, cost efficient, and highly effective.
