SLI eats into RAM?

Thread Starter
I have 6GB worth of RAM installed, and still the same even after i put only 1 GPU.

After I did my SLI, and doing some swapping of RAMs on my RAM slots, it reads 2GB instead now.

Is it the GPUs are occupying my RAM or is it my Motherboard's going defective now?

Thank you for any reply.

SLI won't "eat" into your RAM. The symptom you're seeing sounds like a memory stick not properly seated (since you mentioned you moved some ram sticks around). I would double check that first before blaming it on your GPU.

If after you're made sure that every RAM stick is seated properly and it's still reading 2GB, I would remove all but 1 stick of ram, power on system, check how much ram you have, power off, stick ram 2 in...rinse and repeat until you can see 6GB.

Hope that helps

The cards have schedulers thats dma enabled which fetches the data needed from the system ram without bothering the cpu. SLI wont use the system ram as gpu storage unless you have a age old card with hyper memory or whatever they called it
