Source Engine Mouse Settings

Anyone faimiliar with source engine games please help me out. The game I am playing is tf2 and i have a question about the mosue settings.

in the mosue settings menu of tf2 theres is a raw input and acceleration checkboxes.

Settings im using:
400 dpi
6/11 windows enhance pointer precision off
2.70 in game sens
i dont use any noforce commands in launch options.

now would it be better if i turned on the raw input and acceleration boxes and kept the acceleration slider at 1 which is unaccelerated value according to the tooltip when you hover over the slider?

I kinda notice a difference but then i think it is just placebo.

If you have acceleration unticked then any setting on the acceleration slider will have no impact on your mouse and I would suggest using Raw Input if you want absolutely no acceleration at all.

so raw input completely ignores windows sensitivity yet i cant tell a difference when turning it off. Is that because mouse has 1:1 precision built in and it becomes messed up by windows sens?

Raw input reads directly from your mouse (1:1 ratio of CPI).

just started playing source games again. If i have 6/11 and enhanced pointer off in windows will checking raw input in source do anything beneficial? i think it is only good for when you use any value other than 6/11

Why you wouldn't use raw input is beyond me.

Basically your sensitivity will feel the same, but your cursor will snap and re-position based on the fps you're able to pull. If you tend to dip a lot, you may hit negative acceleration with fast flicks (assuming you move your cursor a fair distance in a short amount of time)

Enabling raw input makes mouse fixes and or windows sensitivities a pointless factor.

I was just used to having it off cause it wasn't implemented in source till around 2010. if i had 3/11 windows raw input would make in game feel like 6/11 boosting my inches/360 higher. With 6/11, raw input will just keep it at the same inches/360 so i figured i would just keep it off. I have turned it on today and i do notice it is more accurate. Thanks for the help.

Do I go to \Steam\steamapps\...\half-life 2\hl2\cfg\config.cfg and add m_rawinput "1"? How do I know it works? My mouse movement feels the same after doing this (speed 2.0).

Is there a way to do it in-game through the options screen?

Ok, if I add m_rawinput "1" to the cfg, it gets deleted after starting Half-Life 2. Any suggestions?

Options > Mouse Tab > Put a check in Raw Input.
