Skyrim crashes when overclocking? - Page 2

the game is demanding , running it overclocked probably brings it to its stability limit ..

trying to run everythimg maxed out , going from 60 dipping into the 30's will cause the card to crash if overclocked and its not stable .

I don't mean to jack your thread but MSI Afterburner causes Skyrim to just crash as soon as i click on the icon. Ive tried both enable and disabling Low level hardware but still crashing. Just set my fans to 70% and close the program. runs perfect. Ill try removing nvidia's tuning software and inspector like you said earlier. See if that helps.

Not crashed but I had a weird fluke.. At stock speeds I was only getting 45% GPU usage and poor fps.. when I noticed it was at stock I alt / tabbed and enabled my OC. After that I had 80-95% GPU usage and pegged at 60fps again. Probably just a fluke that was cleared out from alt tabbing but interesting anyway.

If anyone is experiencing crashing, Nvidia Inspector might be the culprit.
It's strange that I have to use different overclocking utilities for different games. I don't understand why one crashes BF3 and the other Skyrim.

MSI afterburner was crashing our game to where it wouldnt even load.

What do we expect from a console port.. its not compatible with the software that every hardcore gamer uses... Nvidia inspector and MSI afterburner are SOP for gamers LOL

Also Ive had no problem with afterburner in BF3 in either beta or full release.

i found out why msi is causing skyrim to crash...skyrim doesn't like how msi onscreen hooks itself into the game to show u fps and whatnot. What i do is close msi, launch skyrim then alt-tab and launch msi...works perfect. You don't get onscreen display for fps but you get your OC and fan profiles to work.

my gpu oc was giving me trouble in skyrim too.
after hours of changing settings I determined the source of my problems were from the gpu memory oc.
no artifacting or freezing in any game other than skyrim... strange.

I just set my memory overclock back to stock speeds and all is well now, try that out.

If you haven't done so already, check out the second mod down on this list... it allows the game to use more than 2GB of RAM:

I get crashes on Skyrim with my GTX 780. I can run 123MHz core clock offset on Metro LL, yet can't even run 70MHz offest in Skyrim
