If you don't like Android, just flash MIUI to it. It's very close to a iOS clone. The Vivid is a much more powerful phone than the iPhone.

Thanks for that.

I wouldn't flash MIUI to it since I want the full 'android' experience.

I will look into flashing a custom ROM to it. I don't know if I can root yet though.

I get the phone tomorrow or tuesday (hopefully tomorrow) wink.gif

The vivid/raider gets relatively low benchmark scores from what I've read over the net and at xda-developers

But I know for a fact that the hardware in the vivid/raider will blow the iPhone 4 out of the water.

Don't pay attention to benchmarks, my Sensation 4G, the flagship phone of HTC a couple months ago, only gets like 80MFlops in Linpack at most, it does get around 6000+ in AnTuTu which is pretty awesome though.

From what I can gather, this is due to HTC not using the NEON libraries in their OSs. I think it also has something to with the way HTC's phones handle Java code, which most benchmarks are based on. Another example of this is if you install CM7 and disable JIT, you might get around 10MFlops in Linpack, but if you enable it you can get a much higher score.

I believe we have the same CPU, a dual core Snapdragon, with a native core clock of 1536MHz. The stock Sensation's is underclocked, but I think yours is at the normal frequency. I believe our CPU is faster than the Tegra 2 duals.

EDIT: Here's a cool link about our CPUs.

Amazing.

From what I've read, the Vivid is downclocked to 1.2GHz. At this point I would like to root it and clock it back to 1.5GHz

I just wonder how gaming is on the Vivid and the Sensation

Games run super smoothly. There is absolutely no input lag what so ever. I can test some for you if you if you have any in mind. Like I said I think we have the same CPU/GPU and the same screen resolution.

awesome. I'll let you know when I get my phone.

I've never owned an android before so I'm not sure which games are available for android. (I'm a die-hard iOS user lol)

Snelan, if you happen to have shadowgun. It's one of the better games to really stress the hardware. You'll need the pro version though of CrossFire.

You two have different CPU's though. He has a slightly newer snapdragon.

Also HTC Sense is a love/hate. I personally love it, and refuse to give it up. frown.gif

Well there ya have it, jam3s! Your CPU is actually faster than mine biggrin.gif.

Also, I will try that game.

EDIT: Ok nevermind, not sure how this affects performance, yours still might be faster, but I found that our CPUs are both actually the same gen. You have an APQ8060, and I have an MSM8260. From what I can tell, that just means that yours doesn't have an integrated modem on the chip. What that means for the phone I have no idea, most likely they just used an external modem chip?

I found this cool article about your CPU vs a Tegra II, and this PDF showcasing the release of the these Snapdragons.

Isn't the sensation's CPU clocked at 1.5ghz though, but under clocked to 1.2ghz by HTC? I thought that was how it was.

The Vivid I thought had the CPU rated at 1.2ghz though by Qualcomm.

Yep, you are right on that, the actual clock of the Vivid's CPU is 1.2Ghz, and the actual clock of the Sensation's is 1.5Ghz, and as to the reason I am not sure. It could just have something to do with the phone, and how "high performance") they wanted to make it, or in the Sensation's case, future plans (XE). Not something to do with the actual architecture of the chip, because I believe they are the same.

An example of this is in the Sensation 4G vs the XE. The XE is claimed to have high performance, but in reality it's just that HTC brought the CPU back to 1.5Ghz, and that the 4G and the XE have the same CPU.

So if they clock it at 1.5Ghz, they can call it a higher performing phone than if they put it at 1.2Ghz, but realistically if you know how to root/overclock/etc, they are the same performing.
