Help with 4850 overclocks!

Thread Starter
So i have had this 4850 512mb for a while. ATI branded. It was running 80c with fan at 100% so i took it apart cleaned it and added some new paste like any other card I get. Seems like a plastic coating is on the copper. I dont know. I have pasted it low high and pasted the hell out of it. Long story short the fan is loud and is up all the way and i dropped the gaming temps to 74c while gaming full fan. I have it clocked as follow. Any higher on the memory another 25mhz gives me artifacts. Im using MSI afterburner. Now i need to know what are most people getting out of this card clock wise? Also can i fold this card i havent tried yet and is it worth it? Im trying to sell it but i would like to mess around with it for a bit. Heres where i have it GPUZ and all

My Temps seem to be around the same as yours Averaging between 70/75c using 90% fan speed.
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/k57e8/ - There is my clocks. I cant OC past 700 core because im too lazy to unlock the bios. I can do 700/1100 but in certain games my drivers just end up crashing on me, so I just leave the memory at stock for now.

Im also interested in folding on this so consider this a free bump. sorry its not much useful

Kudos!

I really should do some decent overclocking on this gpu (Double slot cooler - http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/17578-xfx-radeon-hd-4850-xxx-512mb-125-worth-value/) I realy have no idea on how they got "760MHz core/shader and 2,384MHz memory" unless they upped the voltages via the vga-bios.

Guess I have no real reason to overclock this (unless i fold in the future) at my 1024x768 res tongue.gif

The 4850 single slot rig im running 1440x900 and you have a dual slot? you temps are high! Im hitting 80c withe fresh past at time with 100% fan speed. Perhaps the 4850 was a fail!

I know the temps can drop to around 65/68 on 100% fan speed. on full load roughly. but my temp issues are mainly down to bad case and definitely bad airflow. from my experience and what I think I remember from other uses from a while ago. this card ran hot no matter what anyways. Im not complaining. i need a heater tongue.gif

I have my soon retired Sapphire 4850 at 700/993. Can't keep mine stable past stock mem clock. Replaced the stock fan with an Accelero S1, and strapped a 120mm fan to it that runs at 900 rpm. 40c idle and about 54c under load, whisper quiet. Highly recommend the Accelero. Cheap and a fairly easy install.
