It was a very intelligent idea on DICE's standpoint actually. As I'm sure well over twice there sales were on the console. It doesn't matter if the game started on PC or not, CoD did as well and look where it is now.

I felt this way till I put a little time into bf3 and really started to learn the maps and mechanics, now I think it's all around better. But I do agree that bc2 had more classic maps, lets hope more new maps really change that. BF3 has a terrible map design philosophy, but otherwise it's pretty epic imo. Still love and play bc2 of course.

EDIT: How come no likes Canals? It's not huge, but I enjoy it quite a bit.

If you started on bfbc2, of course bf3 wont appeal to you but to me bf2 was my jam and always will be, its like the cod4 of battlefield.

once they release larger maps like caspian, firestorm, kharg island and such many people wont like bf3, dice has tried to make a mix of their large maps and cod style (close combat)

Had BF3 since the 16th, I play BC2 way more, and for a lot longer at a time

they could have saved a bunch of money by just creating another 15 maps for BC2 and VN, thrown in some new weapons

and then build a proper looking and feeling successor to BF2 and BC2

All this post tells me is that you haven't even played BF3 and therefore your opinion is invalid.

I liked BF2, I liked BC2... BF3 not so much so far. I got it today off origin for $30 and I was pretty excited... but my enthusiasm is quickly dying down. I can deal with the minor annoyances, like having to edit my registry to get it to work, having to manually install Punkbuster several times and having to use the terrible Origin program and browser... I'm just not having any fun.

BF3 is great. I have BC2 also and BF3 is better in my opinion. When you first get BF3 you just need to get used to all the weapons, maps, and vehicles. Once you have all that down you will love it. As for the maps, there are a few that are "meat grinder" which I personally don't enjoy as much but there are still large maps which are GREAT. Also jets are so much fun once you get them down.

If the Karkand pack castrates the maps as we've seen, you're going to like BC2 even more and I'll be sending EA a nice email.

You live in a fairy tale world my friend.
