Yeah you are fine. It's rated at 1.55v anyway & you have pretty good cooling. It's a high voltage but that is just something you have to live with since your motherboard does not have LLC & it has voltage drop when under load. 1.48v should be enough for 4.0GHz.

also i left the settings @ normal (instead of changing it to the value to the right)
what did lowering my cpu nb vid to CPU-NB VID Control: 1.15v do?

It's just manually setting it. That is the voltage for the CPU-NB frequency. Instead of having it on "auto" and who knows what voltage its putting through it, it is better to manually set it because that frequency does have an effect on overclocks.. so it has to be stable as well tongue.gif but 1.15ish is the stock voltage @ 2000MHz. I cant remember the exact voltage.

so do you know why the other setting did not work?

You changed the FSB down to 222 didn't you? and then it worked?

EDIT: How did Prime fail exactly? BSOD? Core error? what?

damn, prime 95 failed once more :/, should i try raising the voltage again? or try 3.9ghz?
same settings or new?

attempting 3.9 with unlcoker @ 17.5 bus @ 223, ht @ 2006
voltage @ 1.475 (shows up to 1.53/1.54 in cpuz)

under load its @ 1.4-1.45
Sounds good. Keep in mind you can also raise your CPU-NB freq. & sometimes that can help stability. Like say.. raising it to 2600MHz-ish @ 1.25-1.275v would be a fine increase and should be stable around those volts.

EDIT: Also if you were 3.8GHz stable @ 1.4v you shouldn't need 1.475v for 3.9GHz. So, if it does turn out stable for you I would lower the voltage until it becomes unstable.

would i keep the multiplier/cpu host control the same?
what about ht freq and the voltage would that be for the VID or cpu voltage

edit: it was @ 1.425, should i try that one first and if it does become unstalbe increase it?

You should always keep your HT freq as close to 2000MHz as possible & keep the voltage for it the default.

The CPU-NB VID Control in your bios controls the CPU-NB frequency. This is the voltage you would raise to 1.25-1.27v if you raised the frequency to around 2600-2800MHz

The CPU voltage itself is what you would be lowering if 1.475v proves to be stable for 3.9GHz, which it in no doubt should since you were 3.8GHz stable @ 1.4v. You can mix & match the multiplier/cpu host control as much as you want to get your frequency for the CPU but leaving it as you have it now is perfectly fine. Typically, higher FSB is going to give you more performance over a straight multiplier increase.
