How to free up RAM?

Thread Starter
I usually play SC2 and whenever I end it, I have around 100 RAM free. I have to restart it to have my PC running smooth again, any tips?

Yea, but the cached RAM is still not being reallocated to free.

That doesn't matter. Your OS is leaving it there in case you were to launch the game again. If another program requires more RAM, it should just reallocate it to the new program. Are you finding that your PC won't give up that cached RAM and is having to turn to page file?

It just becomes extremely slow, it takes a good 30 seconds to start up Chome after that instead of like 7-8 seconds normally, its on a SSD too.

Hmm, and Starcraft is completely closing without crashing when you exit? That does seem a bit weird. Do you have a page file set up?

Well, page file is hard disk space you can set for the OS to use when it is out of RAM. While it isn't needed too much, sometimes not having it can cause issues. Many SSD guides recommend disabling it though you should never really do that. It is best to just move it to a different hard drive if you want to keep your SSD free of it. Perhaps it got disabled if you followed any guides or ran and SSD optimizer programs?
