Home server - project have some questions.

Hello guys I'm thinking off upgrading my system and using the old parts as a home server, I have some idea of what I want to do with it tho I don't know how.

The specs are an e8400 with 4gb ddr2 ram, 550w psu, notcua cpu cooler.

I wanted to run it with server 2008 R2 as I can get it for free cause I'm a student however I need some help with the rest.

I wanted to run it with maybe one or two VM's I wanted one to be windows server v1 or amahi for backups and file sharing and also a linux distro which would be the firewall however I'm not sure if all this will work together or not, or will the specs listed above would be able to cope with all the tasks.

Thanks, Pineapple

I think they will cope with the tasks, yes. Just depends what else you want it to do at the same time...

I think it should handle it fine, I mean 4GB of RAM and that CPU isn't bad.
