Low profile CPU cooler for ASUS P8H67-I motherboard

Hi guys

I have bought an ASUS P8H67-I motherboard for a mini-ITX build I am working on. I am going to be using 2x 2gb RAM and a GTX 570 video card. The hardware will be used in a Lian Li PC-Q25 case and there is only about 8 cm space between the motherboard and the PSU - that is, the CPU cooler cannot be more than 8 cm tall. As I will not be overclocking the CPU, all I need is a cooler that can handle 95W TDP from my I5-2500K.

I ordered an Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Pro because it seemed to fit the height requirements without taking up too much space on the motherboard. But having installed it, I can see that it is blocking both one of the memory slots and the PCIe slot.

Can you guys recommend another CPU cooler? I need one that won't block neither the memory slots nor the PCIe slot - and it has to be low profile. Surely the hardware manufacturers must have thought of this. I mean, who orders a mini-ITX motherboard for a large case?

Best regards.

Get a Scythe Big Shuriken. Pretty sure it will fit.

Big Shuriken? No.

Regular sized Shuriken? Yes.

This is the heatsink I used to use: Evercool HPL-815 Heatsink

Lowest profile heatsink before going to server 1U size. Not 100% sure if it will block anything. But for reference it fit on my mobo with the heatpipes going horizontal based on this picture.

If you want I can do some measurements on it to see exactly how much space it takes up.

There are some other ones like the samuel 17 and the AXP-140 that fit on mITX boards easily.

If you aren't overclocking:
1) Why have a 2500K?
2) Why not just use the stock cooler? It is sufficient for non-overclocked.

Big Shuriken and AXP-140 will possibly block the PCI-E slot. You should be fine with a Scythe Kozuti or a Prolimatech Samuel 17. Here's some pics:

Thanks guys. I decided to go for a Prolimatech Samuel 17 - looks like the safest choice.

I don't suppose anyone knows a vendor that still sells this motherboard (ASUS P8H67-I, not the "Deluxe" version) in the United States? It seems like the perfect board for me (PCI-E, 6 SATA ports, you can undervolt the CPU, and it's not made by Zotac) but it seems like it's discontinued. I found a couple vendors in the UK but shipping is 50% of the motherboard cost.
