Nvidia to Start Production of 28nm "Kepler" Chips "Shortly" - Chief Executive
Quote:
Nvidia Corp. has been very quiet about its next-gen graphics processing units (GPUs) based on Kepler architecture and publicly said that the chips will only be available in 2012. At the recent conference call with financial analysts, Nvidia's chief exec broke the silence and hinted that thanks to Kepler-generation GPUs the company had managed to win massive amount of notebook designs and that the chips would hit mass production shortly.

Nothing exciting till January. Are the 78xx just die shrinks of the current 69xx cards?
Hrm... no other information? I'm pretty wary about this. Maybe I'm reading the site wrong, but I don't know. I'm hoping though, I could get my first high-end video card ever in January!

Yeah, that's what it looks like, since they use the 6900 architecture. Though, a 28nm die shrink of the 6970 should prove to be faaaast biggrin.gif

Kinda knew this was coming. I'm waiting for the 7950 myself.

That said though, the 7850/70 is basically a die shrink of the 6950/70 but it uses drastically less power which should run cooler and quieter. Sounds like it might be a really nice card as well.
