Q6600 + GA-EP43-UD3L overclocking help

Hey guys i need help at overclocking this processor a bit more smile.gif
Currently it's on 3.0ghz, and i want it at 3.2 or something like that. I have Cooler Master CPU cooler and when i'm doing nothing, temperature is about 40 celsius or 104 degrees fahrenheit and at high load it's about 58 celsius or 136 fahrenheit. FSB is at 333, memory 2.40B and multiplier is 9. Can i get it a bit more or is this at full potential. Cheers!

Auto on voltage is always to heavy for Vcore and temps

Give this a go (make sure pci is on 100Mhz and Vcore is set to manual & @ the core VID recommended for the chip (realtemp can tell you this) and all others on auto for now) and that your ram is set to run at stock speed (keep checking as this will creep up with the fsb)

Just follow the steps:

1. creep up (15/20) FSB until you don't post into windows.

2. increase Vcore one notch and try to boot (if you don't boot to windows increase vcore again until you get into windows.)

3. THEN try prime95 for 15 mins just to make sure your ok to go on. (if it fails up Vcore) and try again on prime95 until ok

4. then start knocking up the FSB again repeat (steps 1 to 3) until you are @ your required speed or your Vcore/ temps are to High and you need to go back a few setting.

Do this for now and see where you get to post back with any issues and where you are up to (ie Vcore/fsb)

I don't get it quite right

What is VID btw i already have realtemp?
What do you mean by 15/20, you mean like to increase FSB from 15/20 by every successful try?

VID is the voltage that intel says your chip needs to run at stock.

yeah start at stock fsb and raise it by 15/20 and then test (so 266+20)

I tried bumping up FSB like you said for 15/20 and computer didn't boot, so i tried increasing voltage by one notch and still.. nothing
:S
Btw memory is 800 mhz DDR2 and currently it's on 2.40B

is the memory at 800mhz in the bios?
if so, leave it, if not use the memory multiplier and change it to 800mhz.
have you got 2 x 2gb ram or 4 x 1 gb ram?
if you have 4 then you will need to increase the northbridge (NB or MCH) voltage a couple of levels.
chainge the pcie from 100 to 101
i am not familiar with Gigabyte bios, so i am trying here wink.gif

also take a cpu-z screenshot and post it here.
this will tell you what volatge the cpu is at and also what speed the ram is as well.

also only a 18.C raise in temps at load seems low to me, are you using prime95 and realtemp?
even with my D14, i have idle temps of 30.C and load temps of 60.C

ps. have a look at this gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3l thread, i know its slightly different (P45 chipset) but ithere will be loads of bios settings in there, that will be similar to yours.

It's 399.6Mhz (400) per single channel, DDR2 memory is dual channel so x 2 (400x2)= 800mhz
