Amen.

It's sadly quite rare to be able to find someone else on this forum who can see the level of cringe worthy, blind hypocritical nature of many Steam supporters (not to be confused with common Steam users) on these forums.

Certainly not. They would be limiting their user base too much. They all do business in areas of the world with poorly developed networks. Where I live for example, Satellite is my only ISP choice and would not play well at all with Digital Only. Also, the Wii U has been shown and does have a disc drive thumb.gif

You can't say "competition is competition" and then demonstrate the complete antithesis of competition in the very same post. I've been saying this since the announcement of Origin exclusive games. That is ABSOLUTELY NOT competition. Competition does not exist if both platforms don't have the same games.

He was talking about the hardware survey, which also rifles through your installed software, which you can opt out of, but if you want to let your hatred for Steam get in the way of your reading comprehension skills, that's your prerogative.

There's a difference between hate and being able to criticise something/not being a fanboy.

I've bought two games from Steam in the last week (Skyrim/Saints Row 3).

Beautiful irony between you calling another out on reading comprehension while totally failing to understand or even address his actual main point though.

It would make some sense, EA makes a lot of pointless kids games that would be perfect on a nintendo console, but EA needs to seriously improve the functionality of origin before they do anything like this. Seems like a smart but pre-mature business move. That said, I fully expect the wii u to fail and fail hard. The concept looks way too gymmicky and I dont see how they are going to market it at a price people will actually want to buy it at. If the wii u came out and just had better graphics than the ps3/xbox with traditional controllers so that games that come out cross platform could come out on the wii u and just run in a higher res that would be interesting, however touch pad controllers just looks like a dumb idea. Im sure it will be cool for a few very specific games but for the vast majority it just looks dumb.

Id say something like this would be a bad move from Nintendo, I'm not sure the WiiU will be the hit that the Wii was, plus they have allot to improve specially in the multiplayer/network area, of all the devises the Wii was the worse in that area, Xbox Live takes the prize here, they need to drastically improve that, but Origins its not the way to go, its to restricted because its new, and well till this point quite bad. Plus take in account the Imperial actions of EA and their pass history and they will make this even worse.
Bottom line Nintendo needs to stay clear of any type of exclusivity contracts like this one.

EA does not have any ammunition to support Nintendo wanting this. If anything the number of people who bought BF3 compared to the number of people with other games on Origin would just be used to support Nintendo not wanting the Origin platform as it is obvious the only reason why it has so many users is for BF3. That is exactly what the number will show and also since so many people are complaining about Origin because they have BF3 will also work towards Nintendo not wanting to touch the platform (hopefully).
Either way I don't buy consoles so I guess I don't give a what in the end, hahaha.

lol if EA is trying to block out Steam they're sadly, sadly mistaken. Valve and Steam have wayyyy to many loyal customers to get pushed out of business so easily.

The person you quoted was right, you just don't see the situations farsighted enough.

Oh hush you steam-drone.

And yet everyone is somehow perfectly OK with steamworks? With a load of hypocritical crap I've seen from not only this community, but the community as a whole around the net. Why is OK for Valve and Steam to hold my copies of Deus EX, Shogun 2, Civ 5, Portal 2 and Fallout New Vegas hostage UNLESS I'm tied to their always-connected service? Because THAT is forcing you just as bad as EA with Battlefield 3 and Origin. I see so many people complain about how much they love Steam and think it's such a great platform, yet Origin, which does the EXACT same thing is bad because it's from a different company.

Open your eyes bud. Valve is just as bad as EA but they have this drone contingency going so strong I don't think most of their audience is able to escape.

The simple fact of the matter is that Steam/Valve is just as bad as EA and their mindless fanbase such as yourself can't accept that. Think about how many mods that were FREELY given away that they now charge you money for. If you're that angry about them releasing sports games, then don't buy them. There is obviously an audience for them and provide and guaranteed revenue stream to do games like Shadows of the Damned, Dead Space 2, Brutal Legend and Star Wars: The Old Republic among countless other good games they've released.

Think about Counterstrike was ruined with CS:S. Think about how they bought Portal from a group of college students instead of well, HIRING THEM. Think about how Garry's Mod and countless others were completely free now I'm charged TEN DOLLARS TO USE MODS! MODS! Think about how DOTA 2 is possibly going to be a pay-to-play game that under any other circumstance I'd be able to download and play. THINK ABOUT THE DAMN HAT SYSTEM WHERE COSMETIC ITEMS COST NEARLY AND EVEN OVER THE AMOUNT OF THE ACTUAL GAME! But this is all understandable and completely OK because in you and everyone like you in your drone contingency can't accept it. Why? Simply because it's Valve.

You're right you learned to trust Valve, and now they're screwing you inside and out for it. Mafia 2 30 dollars when it commonly on Amazon for 5-8. Just cause 2 20 dollars when it's commonly 7 dollars. RAGE is still going for 60 when I've seen it as low 25 dollars on Amazon. What's your excuse honestly going to be for that? "Wait for sales!" I know, but I want RAGE now and I can't get it better than any digital outlet but I forgot, I'm stuck to Valve like a crack fiend needs needles. And again, let's not forget Steamworks holding games hostage UNLESS you are keen on being content with relying on the IV-Line that is Steam. Isn't the point of digital distribution cheaper prices like ones I mentioned above?

And for the record, I wouldn't trust ANY COMPANY! Why? Because they are a business before they're your friend. Remember that next time before you start talking about trusting a multi-million dollar company. Jesus Christ I can't believe I'm actually reading this! They've gone to show they are about the all-mighty dollar just as much as any other company MULTIPLE times. Wasn't their exact words and excuse for the hat system was "Yeah, we've given you enough and we thought it was about time WE made some money." And on nothing else other than the one thing EA is known for, COSMETIC ITEMS! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

What happens when they continue pushing their cloud agenda and you're stuck playing your games inside of a browser window? What then? If you think Valve isn't going in the onlive direction then by all means you're the crazy one, not me. If we go to that point, forget it. No way in hell would I even support gaming in general if we moved onto a platform like that. But I guess you'll say it's totally understandable cause it's Steam.
