replacing my E6750

Ok so I was considering snagging a Q6600 for cheap around 80 bucks but what im wondering is it worth it, or should i save up for an i5 2500k or possibly go cheaper with AMD Phenom II. I right now have my E6750 stable at 3.6 but my GTX465 isn't reaching its full potential, as I see it often doing worse than reviews and even under preforming the rig i sold with an X3 450 unlocked to quad @ 3.2 with a GTX275 and I know this 465 is faster that what i had to sell. So would a Q6600 be worthwhile or should i save for a full platform overhual?

If you have plans on upgrading to a new setup, it would be wise to put the $80 towards a new rig. Sure, the Q6600 will best your current cpu, but at the cost of upgrading an outdated platform.

If you were just concerned about now, and getting a few extra fps with a cpu upgrade now, then I would say go for the Q6600. However, you stated that your thinking of upgrading to a 2500k rig, which would be leaps and bounds over either of the two cpus mentioned. I would spend your money on a new rig if I were you.

well it will be after Christmas before i can afford a total system replacement.
