How do I hook up 2nd power supply to run cooling system?

I want to use two power supplies in my computer, one for the motherboard and video cards, and one for the pumps, fans, and fan and pump controller. How do I wire the power supplies so I am able to run the cooling system power supply alone when doing maintenance on the cooling system, but under normal operating conditions have both power supplies start up when I turn on the computer?

So with this connector if both power supply switches are turned on when computer is turned on both power supplies will start up and if the power supply that powers my mother board and video cards is turned off when I turn on the computer only the secondary cooling system power supply will start up and no power will go to my motherboard and video cards?

OK so let me say that you are probably better off selling the 2 PSUs you have and getting a higher power one. But i see where you are coming from on having one to power on only the cooling for maintenance.

So using that connector the other 2 posted will make both PSUs start up. But you wont beable to fire up only the cooling PSU.

To do that you will need a switchable jumper between the 15th and 16th pin of the cooling PSUs 24 PIN connector. this is the easiest way to hot-wire a PSU. So once the PC is shut down you can just flip that switch and the secondary PSU will start up.

So the switch closes connetion between leads 15 and 16 like this device does manually?

Yeah. All you are doing is jumping the green (power on) wire/pin to a black ground. So if you wanted it setup in your system so as you could just turn on the PSU without having to disconnect any wires you solder/splice a switch between those pins that you can flip on that would activate just that PSU. If your looking to just detach the second PSU grom the double harness above and hot wire it, save your $4+ and find a paperclip to use as a jumper.
