I listen to a lot of podcasts and, just saying, the audio quality on this is pretty sketch.

Take a look here for a list of equipment that might help out:

Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you. I really enjoy the podcast, but the audio is kinda, well...definitely not a highlight smile.gif Better mics and maybe a higher bit-rate so it doesn't sound like you guys are talking under water?? Regardless I still enjoy listening to them (haven't missed one yet!) so keep up the good work thumb.gif

I'm being very conservative on bitrate at the moment, as it doesn't add more in terms of audio quality.

I always do multiple encodes of the recordings to find the best balance between quality & file size. Once we have better Mic's filsize (because of bitrate) will go up, but it should sound a lot better after an episode or two (may take a try or two to make sure we've got all of the leveling and balancing down.)

I'm glad everyone is enjoying the Podcast and I will say that we are working on the audio quality as a top priority.

I'm actually just outside of Chicago right now testing some Microphones to use on the podcast and I've been driving around Missouri & Illinois to a few different folks places to try out a variety of microphone brands & types to ensure we've got the best setup for us.

wouldn't going from 64 to 128 be a pretty significant jump in audio quality? Anything over 128 would not be as impactful, but it sounds like you're at 64. I know you said you're working on it, trust me that's not unappreciated, just want to make sure i'm understanding bit-rate properly 'cause from my understanding 64 to 128 is actually fairly significant but you're saying here that it wouldn't really matter...?

I actually use Variable Bit Rate when I master the tracks. Which means the average bit-rate it set around 112 but it can change based on the point in the track.

Unfortunately, something finicky went wrong after Audacity spit the track out this way and it didn't show up on the pre-render of the track.

I'll be uploading a fixed version tonight which won't have all of the popping and the distortion at the start.

Since you "butchered" my name and said I should have sent you how to say my name :)

its a compound word, Trans (said as in Transmission), and Hour.

A short history of it, I wrote a short story once for english class back in high school called "The Transitional Hour", it was a cheesey scifi story I wrote cause we had a creative writing assignment, and I couldn't think of anything to write other than cheesey scifi. So it was about a time traveler, who would offer people 1 hour with his time machine to change their past, for items in his time were worth something. don't even remember how it ended, I know I got an A and extra credit for "most hilarious story line".

Long story short, around the same time, I had just gotten AOL, and no matter what name I could think of, some one else had already used it and I refused to have a long string of numbers or any numbers after a name. when I looked over on my desk, the story was out and my history book was covering up "itional" part so it read as "The Trans Hour", thought it sounded cool (i was 15 at the time :)), and ran with it.

I've used it for so long now, that is more or less as important as my real name, cause I have plenty of folks that call me it in Real life :).
