But its not slower than Phenoms. Just looking at Guru3D benches, the 8150 beats the X6 1100T in 3/4 of them. How is that slower?

If an 8120/8150 were the same cost as the 1090T/1100T, buying a Thuban is pointless unless you only use applications that smash the hell out of one core. The only reason why Thubans are still an option is the price difference, but people talk as if Thuban's are better chips, which they aren't at all.

Yeah same here...I already posted that but it got removed. I don't really see what is wrong with that.

For example, if some one is posting GPU limited benchmarks in a CPU performance discussion...it is false information that could cause some one to actually make a purchase based on what is frankly a lie.

I think so much focus as been placed on GPUs in recent years that some people simply don't understand the proper way to test a CPU's performance. I think it is rather large problem. If a CPU can put out a 150fps at low graphic settings and another can do 300fps with the same GPU attached it might not seem like a big deal...but what happen when a game is released that is twice as hard on the CPU? then you are looking at 75 and 150 fps...and if the system can only do 75fps at low settings you can guess what it will do at higher settings.

Though these days software is not pushing hardware like it used to. Here I am using a CPU that is now two generations old...and I am fine. I could upgrade to the best there is and the only thing that would improve is my video encoding time which I personally don't do very often (and when i do it is on my media machine running a Q6600 tongue.gif).

Any one buying a Bulldozer based CPU will be fine for a long time...just not as long as some one buying a 2500k, though most people on these forums would upgrade again before it really mattered. They are fine CPUs that are just a little overpriced right now because they are still new.

I am depressed over my bulldozer. While it is only the 4 core 4100 it just does not seem to benchmark where it makes me happy. I don’t really use the computer much for gaming and playing movies. For the same money I would have rather had the PII 965, but now I might sell my bulldozer and get the PII 980 because I am so butt hurt over the bulldozer. Seems like there are some games out there where the 980 can achieve nearly almost 10fps more with the same video card over the 4100.

Fair enough. But where is it that you educated a mis-informed potential buyer about BD? Where are all of these threads where people are talking about actually buying a BD vs. some other chip where these said people aren't already aware of BD's performance characteristics?

The rest of this isn't directed at you above, but rather just a general commentary.

But how many people came to OCN post-BD-release and said, "gee, I don't know, should I get the fx-xxxx CPU?--I'm looking for the absolute best performance I can buy--I think I should get it." As opposed to general benchmark result threads and the pursuing thread-crapping. Personally--and I may have missed them, so there could be some out there--I have yet to see the former, and have only seen the latter. In which case, where's the necessity in continuing to constantly thread-crap a BD thread? We get it. Everyone and their mother gets it--you (and this isn't the personal you, it's the general you) don't like its results. You think it's sad. Well thanks for saying what so many benchmark results have shown and people have said over and over. You said your piece--why the psychological need to say it over and over again just because there's yet another thread about it? Do you get a nickel for every person you get to join your anti-BD force? I fail to see any relevance in continuing to showcase the poor benchmarks you hold so dearly, as much as I fail to see any relevance in mentioning the benchmarks where it beats comparable CPU's. Or poking fun at people who decided to get it. I said my piece in one of the longer BD discussion threads--I feel no need to restate it, I have no goal in the matter, and I'm not gaining anything to convince anyone either way.

The OP isn't saying to paint a pretty, rosy picture of BD. The OP isn't saying to paint a doomsday picture of BD. The OP is saying stop crapping in BD discussion threads. It's an old story that's been re-told since release, and there is zero new, constructive input anymore--in which case, any statements are insignificant after they've already been said 10 times. Yet people still can't help but spread their vocalized hatred for BD.

im getting an 8120 soon and i noticed it was going for $199 on amazon so i made a thread baout the price to aware people who are interested in it and the very first comment in there was "its still not worth it" man i wanted to really go off on that dude because thats not the point! He had no reason to poke his nose in there and say that nonsense. I think it is worth every bit of $200. STILL GETTING AN FX!

I'm the biggest amd fan and been using amd for years. I've been using a 1090T and a 480 SLI for a while and the bottleneck has been killing me. I've been waiting for a LONG time for bulldozer to get rid of the bottleneck. I knew that it will still lose to intel in gaming because of higher IPC performance and lesser cores but just for the love of AMD I was still gonna get a BD anyway as long as it's gonna be an upgrade. the release is one of the biggest surprise I had. it performs WORSE than a phenom II in games. I was shocked and disgusted. I really welt like I was betrayed. now I was forced to get an i7 950. bottleneck is now gone and games run great. amd needs to get their act together. they lost a customer

Hey you, Yea you! Why are you so hurt over Bulldozer?

Price??if the price wasn't such a butthurt for also a such terrible chip..although LITERALLY it wouldn't be an upgrade since the old Phenom 2's and Thuban's perform better than the BD in gaming and general usage..

unless.........

you do Zip the whole year long...

you do Handbraking all year long

you do encoding all year long....

thats more of a butthurt.....mad.gif

I also hated how they sold the motherboards first then gave us a crap cpu. it's like they had a meeting and decided to sell the motherboard first to force the people who bought it to get bulldozer coz they know it sucks. and they say intel is underhanded.

Same as all of the MW3 threads, and Crysis 2 threads before it. You're not spending the money on it, so no one needs your whining.
