Well, "do not open the map" is not a real solution. You need the map, it is part of the game.

Anyone noticed it also often crash in Riften while talking to NPCs?

System reboots were stopped after the kill of the first dragon in Whiterun (main plot quest) - it`s switching on "random-dragon-attack" script. Now game getting much more stable and only just closing out into Windows smile.gif

Open the game with the TESV exe file instead of steam and it works like a dream for me - no problems at all since - Try it guys!

I'll give that a try..

Having another -- annoying -- issue now... keep getting alt-tabbed out of certain games <_<<br />

I tried this, but it still "black screens" me...

I tried updated all my drivers...

Make sure you don't have any apps or browsers open in the background. Shut down any memory hog resources that is not related to gaming. If you can, restart your pc and once it boots up to windows, play Skyrim. This method has gotten me playing Skyrim for hours without any glitches. I'm also playing in windowed btw. It's plays very smooth in windowed mode. Waiting for the patch.

Yeah, tried all of that. No dice.

EDIT: What are your specs?
Having the exact same issue. Just a reboot out of the blue. No issues with overheating before. Using steam version.

My specs.

One fix people have been using from another forum is that people are lowering their processor speed to 70% and it's working fine for them.
I've been having good luck with the ' bypass steam and go directly to the tesv.exe file' process for the last two evenings. As always, only time will tell if this is consistent or random happenstance.

--Update - nope, not a fix
