The Truth about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 PC - Page 3

I updated the OP with info about graphics...it would appear that for SP I was optimized to Extra...while in MP I was optimized to HIGH settings...which did make the game a lot worse looking.

I must admit though...never have I experienced such a huge shift in graphics from High to Extra...It is more like running in med or Low and then going to extra.

I have retracted the message about it looking worse than CoD MW1...I will admit when I am wrong...and I will indeed insert my opinion whenever possible...

If we just stand there and blindly follow without question...well...WWII comes to mind...

I bought both MW2 and black ops. COD4 was the last good cod for me. With that said, after experiencing almost everything you said in in your OP in MW2, all I have to say is I am glad I did not get fooled this time around with COD. MW2 was horrific dealing with that matchmaking system. Black ops brought the servers back but the gameplay was horrible compared to the original modern warfare. After 2 additional releases and about 120 out of my pocket for what I felt were just horrible games, COD is done for me.

I have not and do not plan to touch MW3 but I can only imagine everything you are explaining in your OP and I know that I can agree with you completely without having to play it.

No flame intended, because I know someone out there is looking for an excuse to troll. I hate having to put this statement in my posts.

This game sucks in every way, and the best way to show IW you dont like what they have done is to not buy it or any of their crap again. I considered this a $60 lesson well learned.

Nice insight ..I read the whole thing and agree completely with you. I saw all these aspects you pointed out along time ago, that is why i stopped buying call of duty games after MW2 ....black ops just looked like a rehash of mw2 that is even more arcade paced (meaning too fast with number popping over ppls heads when u shoot them like a dumb pinball machine) with very low quality weapon firing sounds.I then knew that mw3 was going to be the same after i saw the first gameplay videos.

I really wish they would have used a new engine on mw3 for better graphics and gameplay, higher sound quality and an overall new style COD game. Instead they are just counting on all the fanboys to keep buying the same game over and over again rehashed with a new name and a few different additions which really could be released in a patch or dlc instead of a whole new title. rolleyes.gif

I was really into MW2 for along time until hacking got out of control and people were blatantly using aimbots which forced me to just give up on COD franchise.

I really look forward to BF3 when i upgrade my graphics card. BC2 was great but then kept crashing on my system so i quit playing.

I guess I could agree with saying it was a console exclusive game if you said Modern Warfare was for console....

but, CoD 4 was a very well received PC game.

Plus I do not see WaW or Black Ops as a console port either...granted those two games are dev by a different group. At least they had the knowledge not to mess with what works.

I know that my position on match making systems seems very biased...but honestly, what does a MM system bring to the table that dedicated servers cannot?

It is hard to root for a match making system when so many things are wrong with it. I can understand that Console gamers are without a choice in the matter...but we are not console gamers. It seems that IW would like us to be though.

Team Fortress 2 Implements a server finding system that will guide you through finding a game automatically...why not implement this into CoD over having a limited system of MM.

Left 4 Dead has a match making system...The general process of the game and the way it was designed is heavily match making centric. The game almost exclusively depends on the match making to fill up a game. Yes you can join via a server browser, but you are essentially starting a completely different type of game which extends across multiple maps per match. That is why the MM system works so well for it. Match making fits L4D.

CoD was created before this MM system was adopted...it works very well without it.

Heck MW2 has been revitalized on the PC by it being made available to people to play without the Match making system. The addition of dedicated Servers to this game was not the work of it's creators at IW. It took some one else to take the time and energy to get it rolling. That is how devoted some people are to playing a game they have grown to love. (regardless of whether or not the console is the desired platform)

Now those same people spends hours each week trying to maintain and improve their system and have no time to be starting another project on the next installment of the game.

I do not condone the actions of those people, and I do not wish to openly advertise such a gray area, I just wish to bring in a good point:

We cannot just give up on a game due to the fact that the Developer or Publisher or whoever it is up there with their rake full of cash bathing in a sea of financial success.

I want to point out that people are simplifying the issue and state this...

"Well if you do not like the game and the way that it is evolving...then do not buy the game"

Please take a look around...There are plenty of people who were furious with MW2...myself included....who planned to skip and even told themselves they would not buy this game.

We did anyway...This game still turned out to be a huge up sell and success regardless of our frustrations. So this is now a re-occurring issue. Why does this worry me? Why should it worry you?

What if all the developers start implementing match making systems as crapified as MW2/3's into all future PC Games...

What if they start taking it from the pro's and get into the Copy paste method?

Heck, a lot of people do not vote for the president of the US...why?...Most of the time we do not see a candidate worth voting for...but that does not stop the cycle and prolong the election of some useless figure who offers no real improvement to the country at all...and then where are we...4 heck even 8 more years into debt and just a little closer to a major economical crisis. (I make this generalization with the full understanding that not just 1 man can impact the economical position of our country and that electing even just a single grape could just as equally balance or imbalance the economics) but the idea is solid, if you have that little of consideration for who is in office, then heck you aren't too worried about the other officials and political figures to notice how the whole thing stinks to begin with.

OK back on topic, I guess the main point is...no one ever cares enough to say something...but I do...This may not be our next presidential election...I may not be trying to save the whales or polar bears. But I do have the right to speak up and point out that while there are other, much bigger issues at hand in not only a national, but global perspective. I will be damned if I won't stand up for what matters where I can actually attempt to make a difference...my Beloved PC Gaming... I

f you feel that I am wasting my time and efforts well that is just too bad...cause I am not standing here to sway your opinions...

those of you who agree with me also back their opinions up with ideas and feelings from experience and from the heart.

The ones who disagree, you are so welcome to your opinion and I am open to it completely, but your arguments are less than one paragraph and come across as a simple..."this game sucks" or "You need to admit this game is for consoles"

Why do you feel that way? We all want to know.

How do you know this game is for consoles?

I do not mean to come off harsh or opinionated...It is just...well...I feel that an opinion or an idea is nothing without a foundation and other supportive facts to back it up.

You can tell me all day long your opinion, but I won't listen until you answer why. If you feel that it is not worth your time to formulate an explanation...then why is it worth my time to acknowledge it or even consider it?

Plain and simple...This is not an I'm right/You're Wong...You're right/I'm wrong Scenario. This is meant to be a discussion about the fallacies of a product, not a PvP contested zone between members.

Without bringing the dirt to the surface...the product will never get clean.

Well I was thinking about buying this game, I've always been pro-Battlefield, but I was looking for something simple and mindless to put around in and saw it for $21.50 and thought, "Why the hell not?"
But it honestly sounds like it will piss me off more than battelog does already...
