If you get the APU, you have a relatively strong GPU on the CPU, paired with a low power CPU that does what it promises. HD playback and some gaming.
Power consumption is to be taken into account aswell. The Celeron alone eats the same power as the APU, but the APU has a GPU in there.
It depends on what are your preferences mostly.
Well in my updated post I have a $50 Phenom II X4, not the celeron anymore. The Fusion setup is certainly attractive, but at my price point I could only afford the a4, and I can't find any benchmarks on the a4, but I assume the AMD HD 6450 beats the pants off of it. For $20 AR that's an awesome dedicated card. This system would probably be well bellow 100w even when being used anyways, I don't think power consumption is much of a concern here.

Oh yes I am, every day the total price drops by a few dollars, or I get a same cost upgrade. If I had time I'd check out yard sales too lol.

Also that RF kb and mouse will NOT have good range. I had a set on my HTPC and it would constantly lose signal and wouldnt work correctly. I would suggest bluetooth instead.
I wholeheartedly agree. Just one problem, the OEM Phenom II X4 doesn't come with any cooler
. I'm going to see if microcenter can spare me a stock cooler while I'm there.
Hmm I saw some of that in the reviews... most were positive though. That's good info, but I think I've found another wireless set anyways and now I'll definitely stay away from that combo. A lot of people seem to be complaining about RF keyboards/mice, I had a cheap set years ago and it worked great across the room. Maybe build quality has gone down lately, or it's the vocal minority.
