It will be silent, especially if you manual fan control and have it low. No, it won't push the card at all really. I wouldn't spend $140 on a 5770 though..

You can always check out the Overclock.net marketplace. It's up to the seller if they want to sell to a repless new member though.

Pretty much anything that was considered mid-range in the past few years will do great in CS: Source with maximum settings at 1920x1080. It doesn't require much GPU power at all. After a certain point, you get better FPS gains from a fast CPU than GPU in CSS.

Thread Starter
Wow. This forum is fast and helpful. I also now realize how low-end of a gamer I am. I've never really gamed on anything other than Intel integrated graphics, so I have no experience with this.

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone.

if you're going 5770..might as well go 6790..it has a 256-bit bus....

Consider also 120hz monitors, I play CSS religiously and the monitor really helps your reaction times and aim. thumb.gif

CS:S? Intel® HD Graphics 3000 would be plenty.

EDIT: Sorry my friend is joking around. I say go for the 4670, I have it and it does great. 107 FPS with everything on high.
Why is everyone recommending the 5770 whats wrong with the rebranded 6770 on newegg. Most 5770 are out of stock no longer available anyway.

EDIT: OR someone mentioned a 6790 which is pretty much the same price as the 5770/6770..
