4670 wont cut it aside that, its a 3 year old card...why even bother. Go with the 5770. If you can afford it, just get a 6850 and call it a day.

I agree that you should get the best card you can afford now. At the very least, if you are this far behind in gaming biggrin.gif, it will future proof you another three years minimum.

Hi mate,

I have a radeon HD 4890 and I can run css maxed out on 1080p no problem. It never comes below 60fps. Heck I can even play BF3 altho on low settings with not so great FPS. Its a rather old card and if you don't mind buying used cards I definitely recommend it. If you don't want a used card and have the money go for the 5 or 6 series. For CSS you almost cant go wrong. smile.gif

If you want the quiet but yet by any means powerful card for CS:S , then you are definitely looking for GT 430 fanless edition, like this one.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500222 Sadly it doesn't have any VGA port for old displays out there, but hey, if you are running 1080p, then at least your monitor should have DVI or HDMI inputs.
If you want to go more cheap, then you will have to sacrifice VRAM but you gain VGA port. 512 MB of VRAM should be plenty for old games like CS:S. Correct me on this if I am wrong.

I only recently saw yhat you are preferring AMD over nVidia, so I searched AMD based cards and came up with this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150543
It has both 1GB VRAM and VGA port, but its only drawback is not fanless design, so it will be a bit noisy.

Isn't there a new counter strike coming out next year? May want to investigate hardware demands on that
