RAID question

Thread Starter
Ok so I think my SSD is causing problems again (OCZ Vertex Plus 60GB) and I'm wondering if I can remove this SSD which is being used for Intel SRT for my main HDD (which is obviously in a RAID setup) and I'm wondering how to take it out and set the HDD to AHCI mode if this is possible without reinstalling Windows.

Thanks for any help;

If your array is a RAID 0 array you cannot switch your controller from RAID to AHCI because then you can't access any data stored on that array.
As for removing the SRT SSD, shouldn't there be some option to do so in the intel RST program?

You need to turn off SRT in the Intel Storage manager. Then you can take the SSD out.

Then you need to do this after you take the drive out.

Change to AHCI Mode after Installation:
  1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
  2. Press [Win] + R or take the RUN option from the start menu.
  3. Now type Regedit there and press Enter Key to open up the Registry Editor Window. (If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.)
  4. Locate and then click the following registry sub key:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci

  5. In the right pane right-click Start in the Name column and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 0 [3 is default], and then click OK.

Disable RAID Mode after Installation:
  1. Locate and then click the following registry subkeys:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStor

  2. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
  3. In the Value data box, type 3, and then click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
  5. Restart your computer
  6. Go to BIOS and enable AHCI, Save & Reboot
  7. Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation.

The above should work for you.
