Disabling Vsync in Skyrim

What hasn't worked so far:

"Disable Vsync
Access the SkyrimPrefs.ini again and add iPresentInterval=0 to the bottom of the [Display] section. This can improve a sluggish framerate and eliminate instances of mouse lag. Thanks to Tweak Guides for this one."

Still capped at 60fps

Why is it no developer can get simple things into a damn menu these days that every PC gamer always asks for....

- Vsync
- FOV
- Mouse accel

Yes I know you can edit drivers and tweak reg files but if I'm paying $60 I should not be wasting my time doing that out of principle...

What worked for me was putting 'iPresentInterval=0" in the Skyrim.ini file located in the \Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder right at the bottom of the [Display] section.

If you disable vysnc be prepared for a very poor experience. It causes the physics in game to go a bit crazy as things interact differently when the frame rate gets too high. I believe this is why they didn't include an option in game to disable vysnc.

It all depends on whether or not you are getting a constant 60fps with it enabled.

I am running it on a GTS450 at high settings and it kept going up to 60 and down to the high 20s with it enabled and when it is disabled it doesn't go below 35fps.

So disabling it helped in my situation, it also helped with the mouse lag that I was experiencing.

It really depends on the users' system. Outcomes may vary, like me with VSync on, I don't have any problems running the game.
