SSD RAID0 Performance Check/ HD Tune Benchmarked - Page 2

Cables are definitely plugged into Ports 0 and 1.

CorsairBiosPic.jpg
CorsairBiosPic2.jpg

Only thing i notice right now is that one of my SSD's is using a SATA cable from my previous motherboard (Gigabyte P45) and another is using one i bought at a computer store that says 6 GB/s on the right angle connector. I couldn't comment on the quality of these cables at all.
As far as i was aware there is no difference between SATA2 and SATA3 cables no matter what marketing they put out to say otherwise, similar to HDMI 1.3 1.4 etc...its not the cables that marks the improvement.

Any comments on how to troubleshoot my performance?

Also, i am running the latest Intel Rapid Storage driver.

Another benchmark for comparison.

i see your stripe size is 32kb. any particular reason its that smal? iirc, stripe size has alot to do with performance too. basically if you are dealing mainly with small files, then a 32kbstrip will suffice. if your have games and such going on that ssd, i would at least make it a 64kb or 128kb stripe.

EDIT:

also run another cdm bench, but this time do a 0fill test. see what that comes up as.

I tried to review as much information as possible on stripe size. From what i found i gathered 32kb is good for SSD, but i guess that is may not be true. I also gathered it doesn't have a huge effect but i'm not so educated on RAID performance.

I found something....For some reason by drive on Port 1( Blue highlighted drive on bottom) is reporting a SATA 3Gb/s connection...i could only guess that this is due to the cable. I will investigate some more

im not sure about doing it through windows. i set my stripe size to 128k when i initially got my drives. my first raid set up was 9 days ago, so im still learning myself. but what i just told you, is the same thing i was told when first asking questions about raid 0.

Ok so my story continues...

I went out and replaced my SATA cable with one that says 6GB/s on it. I boot up and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) says SATA transfer rate is 6GB/s for both drives. Awesome.

I run ATTO and Crystal Disk and get these results...Awesome.

CorsairDay2ATTOCrystalMark.png

I then run HD Tune Pro and get these results that are like before

CorsairDay2HDPro.png

I then check IRST and it says my drive on Port 1 is back to SATA transfer rate: 3 GB/s

I run ATTO to confirm and get the lower speeds again...
ATTO3gbpsday2.png

What the hell is going on...?

When i restart my computer the transfer speeds go back to 6Gb/s according to IRST

seems like you have that probelm after you run hd tune. run a few test of cdm and atto and then see if the problem persists.
