I had the choice but I decided to go with the 2600k instead... that is for video editing...and aftereffects. I don't think the cores make a huge difference for the programs. Its more of the ram

2600k would do ya better..higher IPC ..8 threads..(same as BD)....you can run MUCH higher RAM on sandy bridge..but..skip the 2000..there's no divider..it's either 1866 or 2133

I dunno, from what I've head about BD it sounds more like it would be viable as a server chip.

For your purposes the 2600K would probably be the best then maybe an i7 Nehalem in second place.

EDIT: Not that it would matter much for you but there was a post on slashdot that I read about the underlying architecture of each chip and how commands are issued to the chips themselves making BD just the same as SB in certain scenarios. IIRC SB chips had a certain instruction that took two clock cycles while the BD would do it in "one" however need the combined power of both FPU's to form a "module". This is definitely a super paraphrased and possibly wrong retelling so I'll see if I can dig it up.

This is just plain false lol.

Try this on for size and good luck getting your base clock over 112.

The IMC is just about the only redeeming feature.

Bulldozer is not bad. But Core i7 2600K is better.
Not just when it comes to performance, but also power consumption.
Video Editing use a lot CPU resource and that will put your CPU under heavy load most of the time.
I was planning to pick Bulldozer but cancel it. 8 Core Bulldozer does not perform better than 4 Core Lynnfield with Hyper Threading at the same clock speed.
Phenom II X6 is no better. It is slightly slower than 8 Core Bulldozer in multi threaded application.
