Actually, I find his question to be a valid one considering things have changed quite considerably in the past few weeks...But, instead of helping someone new, let's defame them, be derogatory and make them never want to visit the site again because that's the answer.

I have a couple ATI cards in the office, we're a beta office and they're necessary...I also go through stages of preferring my 6990's to my 590's so, they're a welcome addition.

The interns get to pick/choose and recently we had a surge.

Due to the recent 2 storms, yes...the first was that tropical storm and the second was the lovely foot of snow...My office alone has managed to blow over 20k of hardware...ALL covered by warranty thank god but, it's been a very bumpy ride.

Based on customer service alone, I've written off almost every single ATI manufacturer BUT, Sapphire//MSI.

Asus told me that there were no storms and a surge didn't qualify to replacements...Bye Asus.

XFX, I had to FIGHT to get someone on the phone and they actually told me there was no surge, it was impossible and I could not get an RMA...Bye XFX.

The guy at MSI and I had a good laugh because we literally inserted the 5+ RMA'd cards as the snowstorm started, 5 minutes later the fuse on the box blew down the road...I cringed, half the office was bricked...Again...Easy return, not a single issue.

Sapphire was the same, had a good laugh, easy RMA and a fast one.

So personally, I'd either do this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127575 ~ Or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102954

That's my advice biggrin.gif

Well said!!!thumb.gif

thank you guys for being so understanding. Some of the threads i even searched on this site were from months ago and some of the links had cards that were deativated from new egg so thats why I started it fresh for myself, i dont wanna really wait a few months for the 7*** series as Im using a 6670 right now and it isnt the best. I was looking at a 1gb MSI one on new egg, but how big of difference is there between having a 1gb version or 2gb version?

I'd strongly suggest going with the 2gb version and especially for MSI, do the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127575 because the cooling is actually 5-10c lower than the others.

You'll start to see Vram take a bigger and bigger role in upcoming releases so, I'd say spend a few extra bucks and really take advantage of the Vram.

Make sure you have good ventilation too...

Are there any 6950s left that can be unlocked to a 6970? I'm debating between a 560 ti and a 6950. I've heard that the 560ti is great at overclocking, but a 6950 unlocked to a 6970 AND overclocked...that would be an amazing deal for 250ish.
