I'm not an expert but from what I read I believe it's virtual in that there is no difference in performance, it's just a way to achieve overall clock speeds higher than what can be achieved from the 100BLCK strap. However, from what I know about OC I would think that the lower CPU multi should be somewhat less stressful on the CPU and may produce lower temps? Maybe do some experimenting with it recording the temps and circle back to let us know?

And just to eliminate any Photoshop doubts here's a quick video I did about 40 mins in whilst it was running (I went out after that seeing how long it takes to do 10 runs at max).

That sounds like what I have read as well, although this manual from this very site helps too (if you haven't seen it already).

I also learned quite a bit from this video which takes you through the mobo we have (Sabertooth X79) and all the settings one by one.

Can't get to 5 though! I can boot into it (most times) but it fails IBT after a few minutes. I wanna join the 5GHz club biggrin.gif.....after that I'd settle for stable 4.5 for everyday use.

I like the Sabertooth OC video with JJ from Asus as well. However, most of what he talks about with the settings have the clause "these settings will work most often for anything under 4.7-4.8Ghz," with less specific recommendations for speeds exceeding 4.8Ghz. I would love to see him do something for those that want to push further.

Hi all!
I pushed this babe a tad further before I installed my WC stuff. I got to 5.1GHz.
OverK1LL, please let me know if I should fill out that sheet again smile.gif

I used this vid as a guideline. And to push the chip further is not that big issue

Cheers guys!

Yes but is it STABLE???? Have you run any stress testing on it or just managed a boot and taken a screen grab? Because I can boot at 5.11GHz and take a screenie...

418

..but is mine stable like that? Is it f****!!

This thread was never about stable overclocks. No one would ask Turn&burn if his 5.8GHz are stable...
To answer your question:
Hell no it was not stable. Rather the bleeding edge of boot-ability.
And regarding this:

You should avoid that since it is against ToS.
