Thanks for your assistance Sin but I have had it with this board. I had 4.8ghz at a halfway decent voltage and now 1.58 volts wont boot 4.8ghz.
I tried even upping those settings and nothing. Even took out one of my Video cards and down to one stick of memory and will not boot over 4.6ghz. Then when I put my card and memory back in
it would not boot even stock. Then after that the F5q bios reverted back to F again.
The board is junk for overclocking. 4.5ghz is a breeze with it. Seems to me maybe Gigabyte knew the gamers would buy this board and be happy with 4.5Ghz. Or I just got a bad board. One of the two but the Bios issue is extremely frustrating. Time to order a new board. Unfortunately the Asus Rampage is the only decent board for sale right now. And the Sabertooth seems to clock better then the Assassin 2 from what I read online but it may be too early to tell.

Anyway thanks for the suggestions.

LEADERBOARD UPDATE

CDMAN was first to break the 5.2 GHz threshold but was bumped into 2nd when fliq took 1st place with a 5.3 GHz OC.

A new member, foxrena bumped Rhia out of third place by a mere 0.04 Hz!

You guys should make a rule to prove that the OC is stable, such as Prime 95 or IBT results.

Posting overclock achievements without any stability test is just a waste, in my opinion.

I'm going dark for the next 24 hours. All this updating has kept me from building my 3960X rig.

Not complaining, but I'm itching to get it up and running! Just don't want you guys thinking I abandoned the thread.

When I'm back up and running I'll update the spreadsheet to show Mobo and Voltages as the poll indicates that's what you want.

you bring up a good point.

Who thinks people should post stability tests in their screenshots?

I think the top 3 definitely should. I'm not saying that I doubt the current OC's stability, just that future attempts to dethrone the top 3 may or may not be stable.

Food for thought I guess.

Anyways, see you guys on the other side of the sandy bridge. I'm off to rebuild my Gulftown rig.

Well the point of This thread was to push our hardware to limit to achieve the highest possible valid CPU-Z clock rate. When members break WR's with the new AMD chips, do you see them running prime to make sure it's stable? No you dont, because the point is to get the highest possible valid clock.

If people want a stability test rating for there cpu's that fine, but make another thead for that. I for one, dont have the time to watch Prime run, I have Skyrim to play and arcade games to review :-)

Stability tests are great if you plan to run your system at a certain rate everyday, but for a cpu record run they serve no point.

Wow, nice looks like I am not the only one who want some voltages smile.gif
Just stumbles upon a OC guide and explanation of the setting on ASUS boards, you guys might want to check it out:

Got a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD7 coming Overnight from Newegg. (Had to try another Gigabyte board). I am RMAing the Assassin 2 and getting a store credit. Maybe I will try the MSI GD65 or Asrock Extreme 9 when they send me the credit.

I spoke with Gigabyte for an hour and they confirmed my Assassin 2 is wacked. Hopefully Newegg doesnt send me a Wacked UD7. I am used to this because everything I buy, the first one that comes is broken! They should send me items expecting to get the first one back!

I think if you had a million motherboards in stacks and one was bad you could pick any random person to grab one and ship it to me and it would be the bad one.

I have great luck when it comes to the backwards lottery!

Oh well I will resume trying to clock tomorrow once my board gets here.
