Hey guys
Wondering what CPU Blocks are you running.

I'm thinking of changing from my rasa to the Raystorm since my rasa is quite aged and beat up now tongue.gif

I'm on a tight budget and can just afford a Raystorm and not anything more

IMO -> you don't have to change it! Little maintenance will make him useful again. For start you can do lapping of touching surface. thumb.gif

and I forgot to mention the fact that I'll have to go off and order a mounting kit from XSPC or somwhere again since I lost my thumbscrews and springs....which makes the block bloody useless right now.

If I order though a WC supplier here it'll take 2weeks+........so good excuse to try something new?

I'd rather give the block away as a freebie here minus a working mounting kit to someone thats in need of a block
post #1377 of 2301
I would take the block, but you don't need a specialized mounting kit, I just used some bolts from home depot and some nuts for the LGA 2011 mounting. it doesn't look as pretty because its not painted but it is functional.

heh yeah I know....only problem is that the closest hardware store is like really far away tongue.gif (close to 2 hours away for transportation there and back home)

Plus....I don't really know how much tension/pressure I should be putting. How much did you tighten it?
Whee! Here's my first entry. Also, my first real try at overclocking!

I'm still not exactly sure what I'm doing, but I set the multiplier in Asus' AI Suite 2 to 44 and set the VCore setting to 1.260V (though this gets translated to 1.376V? I have the power-save features of the P9X79 Deluxe board enabled, and that changed the voltage entries) to get it stable while running the Aida64 stress test. I was having trouble with CPU throttling if I went any higher than 4.4GHz, but that is because all I have for cooling is the Cooler Master Hyper212 EVO (though I did strap another 120mm PWM fan to it for a push-pull configuration).

One of these days I'll get a better case and a liquid cooler with a 240mm x 120mm radiator... like a Corsair H100 or something similar... and I'll set up a better overclock when I have that.

My CPU-Z validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2488032

I hope I jumped through all the right hoops! biggrin.gif

BTW, this is the system labeled 'Synapse' in my signature.

Go until its flat and level in all directions.
