Wouldn't expect stability unless the thread requires it. Don't think it does.

If it does everything you want and no crash that's stable enough for me redface.gif
post #2203 of 2282
Well my pc is not stable with the new BIOS (anything above v4206) at all. No matter what i do it just doesn't work with the new BIOS. My ram does not like the new bios. I don't get it. I have been trying to fix this for the past 3 days. Nothing works. I can't OC my ram past 1866mhz with the new bios. With 4206 i can reach 2500mhz... I get BSOD with codes like 0x124, 0x0A and 0xD1 which all indicate add more vtt voltage. I have gone as far as 1.4v and nothing helps. this is annoying. Whatever.... back to the old bios.

Fantasy,

Your cpu is a C2 3930k which doesn't apply to some of the older guides that are for C1 chips.

Keep your VCCSA and VTT 1.2v or below. C1's can take more VTT/VCCSA voltage than 1.2v. The IMC will degrade quickly at 1.4v and bsods will start appearing soon.

1.5v+ is only for very cold water or LN2 benching, not for 24/7. Hitting 80'C with 1.5v equals dead cpu soon enough.

I'm just trying to help and mean no disrespect. You have a wicked 3930k, awesome really.thumb.gif

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it thumb.gif

I have read a lot of people saying that you shouldn't go above 1.2v for VCCSA/VTT or the cores will degrade very quickly. sadly I can't go below 1.325v. If I do my PC locks up and I get BSOD. I have been running 1.325v on both VCCSA/VTT since 2012. I'm sure my cores have degraded since then. I'm sure I could have gotten 5.0GHz at a lower vcore. sadly I need my ram to run at 2400MHz. I have no reason for wanting to run my ram at 2400MHz other than I really want to tongue.gif

besides I only need this cpu to survive until x109 chipset comes out. probably mid/late 2017. Also my CPU never reach 80C unless some application is using/stressing the FPU. Most of the software/games I use never push my CPU temp past ~72C

Anyways, here are my overclock settings settings

CPU:- 5005 GHz
Strip:- 100 MHz
Bulk:-100.100 MHz
Vcore min voltage:- 0.9v
Vcore max voltage:- 1.54v
VTT/VCCSA voltage:- 1.325v

RAM:- 2405 GHz
RAM voltage:- 1.7v
RAM timing:- 10-12-11-30-1T

Max temp recorded:- 83C
Lowest temp recorded:- 36C

God I love this chip.

Time for me to admit I'm an idiot. as it turns out I don't need more than 1.2v on VTT/VCCSA. blushsmiley.gifblushsmiley.gif
I don't know why I thought I needed 1.325v to run 16GB memory @ 2450MHz. oh god. I'm such a newbie. I feel bad for my 3930k sad-smiley-002.gif

Don't feel bad about it, we have all been there before. Even if your 3930k degraded a little bit, it's still going to be an overclocking beast.biggrin.gif

And before you know it, hopefully you'll be rocking a 1680 V2 soon enough!thumb.gif

I bought this rig yesterday for selling parts, but I think this chip is slightly above average i may keep it for myself if it's a really good one.

What's the verdict?

No tweaks....just manual voltage set to 1.3V. Great temps even with a corsair H60 with the base completely scratched tongue.gif
