So, I'd like to hear opinions on my OC. This is my last goal, frequency-wise. I think going over 4.8 requires voltages that are too high for daily use.

As always, I did an offset OC, let all the C-states and SpeedStep on.

That's what I got. Under stress, that's as high as temps will go. In gaming and all, temps will reach 50C or so. Never saw anything past 55C.

This is one minute, voltages back to under 1:

4700idleafter.jpg

And this is the bench (curiously, since I kept cinebench in a separate SSD, it kept my old and trusted FX-8150 at 4700 as well):

cine4700.jpg

So, is my OC all right? What do you think? Any tips?
One thing I won't do is turn off the C-states and SpeedStep. I'd rather run my CPU at lower frequencies. biggrin.gif

EDIT: had to step back from 4.8 to 4.7. I think 1.35v is about as high as I want to go, and good enough for daily use.

Wow. You guys are getting better results than I do.... maybe I have bad airflow in the cases. My voltage doesn't drop, I just get clock drop to 1.2ghz.

You need to OC by offset to get voltage drop.
It's the damnest thing to me. I'm still fighting it...
Just got a random reboot, btw, I'm revising the above settings.

Oh... I usually OC by manual voltage, not offset.

Would u mind explaining the settings that correspond to this oc by offset? I also have sabertooth and I see some offset options in the ai tweak menu but I have them at auto. The only time my voltage drops is from CPU load line capacity set to high, so voltage drops a little when under load. So I have vcore set to 1.3v, but it's more like 1.288 at idle and 1.256 under load. I'm running prime at 4.420ghz (130x34) FYI so I'll see how long it is stable for.

I wouldn't be able to explain it porperly. There's a guide around, made by a very knoledgeable guy from OCN. Look it up. I could, of course, give you my OC config, but not sure how safe would that be.

Think most people will stay at 4.5-4.6 for 24/7, afterall nothing it can't do with that speed anyways.biggrin.gif

Also dont see much ppl testing with linx? most short period of prime95.

4.7 seems to be working great for me. I'll report back after some real testing (in my case, gaming).

I'll record some temps, which games I was playing, for how long etc.

Add me up!

4.420Ghz (130 x 34)
vcore - 1.3v
CPU LLC - high
prime95 - 9 hours stable

i'm happy with this OC and temps and probably will not chase higher OCs. see pics below for temps (ambient is around 15 - 18 celsius). btw some of you may have seen my temp problems with the H100, but I greatly improved temps by placing 2 dedicated fans over the VRM area, clearing out the cables in my HAF-X, and re-seating the H100.
