If you plan on 2 gpus max, best choice out there imo.
Easy OC, top quality components, great warranty...
I mean, I have NO complains at all.

For some reason you are listed with a R4E on the leaderboard.

I think it's a good CPU, but I'd like to hear some local opinions.

I love mine! I came over from a 1090t and it is a different world. I really wanted to get the 3930K but I decided to get the 3820 and then get the IB-e six core. This chip really is amazing tho!

Trying to figure this out.
My overlock runs unstable as soon as I use a 3D application.
Such as 3DMarks.

The GPU is a AMD Sapphire 7970 at stock speeds/voltage.
I also have this problem with other gfx cards I put in my MB.
Tried all pci slots without luck.

Running decent voltages. The overclock becomes unstable after I hit 5.5Ghz+.
Is my 3960X faulty or something? The actual pci controller?

Any loose ideas?

Have you tried more Voltage, you must be running a LOT to hit 5.5GHz long enough to run a bench mark

(Try running P95 for even a bit if all you are doing is benching, it will show how you hold up under full usage)

EDIT i replaced with it

Why in the world would it be faulty just because you cant hit 5.5+?
5.5 is a pretty high overclock considering it is a hex core processor.
I cant get my 3930k higher than 4.8-4.9 before going above 1.5V

You missunderstand me. The cpu runs 5.5 until i use a 3d application.
It just reboots. Ive tried 5.6, it freezes at the win7 load screen.
So its a matter of voltage and cold.
But no matter the voltage it just simply reboots beyond 5.5.

And hence the question if it could be pci related?

There's nothing wrong with your PCI slots or anything. Some chips just simply cannot function normally even if the voltage is more than suffecient at that clock speed.

Or it could be the fact that DICE isn't good enough so Maybe LN2 would do the trick?
