Is it really as bad as you are making it out to be? I'm on the lower end internet wise(400kb/s down on a good day) and pages pretty much load instantly for me, once I see something on the page I can start scrolling and it'll be done loading way before I hit the bottom of the page.

None of which have magically disappeared as far as I know, they've just been swapped around... I can still do everything I could on old OCN just as quick now, and have noticed no loss in function.

What old rig builder? There was no such thing on old OCN confused.gif

1. Yes. I go over to OCF and pages switch instantaneously, AFAICT. This site just drags. It's like I'm back on dial-up.

2. I guess I should have been more clear. I was referring to the performance of the functions. The functions themselves are about the same.

3. I don't know what you call the old system for posting rigs. I don't see that the new "Rig Builder" functions much differently. Just more bells and whistles. It's like going from MS Office 8 to MS Office 10.

When you've seen lots of changes, your perspective on the little improvements takes on a broader view. From my perspective, Phoenix 0.3 in 2002 was nearly as good a browser as Firebird, which was nearly as good as Firefox today. Sure, the modern incarnation handles more protocols and things, but ho-hum. It's not really a better browser. And the New OCN isn't really a better website than the old OCN. And in some important ways it's worse. Hence, you are losing traffic to other forum websites, especially those that are still on vB.

I suspect that the huddler crowd will never be able to deliver on their promises. I've seen these sales pitches and promises before. And even the Feds can get burned. Just check out the F-35, for example: multi-billion dollar promises undelivered by the prime contractor.

Just don't throw away your old vB code.

How many people need to say this before the message gets through. The direction the site has taken since the change is taking it far away from what most members joined for. Out of all the issues that are going around this too me is by far the most important one that needs addressing by admin as its the only reason this site is here.

Well, '55 or '57 Chevies would be better...tongue.gif

Just because something works fine on your PC doesn't mean it works fine for everybody. I had trouble with GTA4, and you get so many ppls who reply "works fine on my PC", which is kinda useless in terms of problem solving. BF3 works fine on my PC, but I totally believe the people who have issues with it on their PCs.

There is definitely something wrong with the forum, which translated in a sharp decline in users and thread participation.

You guys want a better example ? A thread where a girl joins the forum.

Look at the time she posted (1 day, 21 hours ago) and how many replies it has had since (19). Either everyone has matured a lot (LOL), or there are less people on the forums, which is something anyone who has been around for a few months can empirically tell by thread participation and the user counter.

The thing is, none of these new features detract from the forum, they add to it. The reviews and articles, not to mention rig builder are by no means the focus of this site... just look around, it's still 100% focused on the forum, they don't interfere with the forum in any way so there is absolutely no reason to complain about it. If you don't like it you don't need to look at it, simple as that... they aren't taking up half of the front page or anything.

Really? Eh, whatever you say... It seems to be one of the fastest sites on the net for me now though, maybe vBulletin thrives on fast internet, and huddler thrives on slow internet.

I repeat again, this site has not changed direction in any way. Everything still is forum based, and I suspect a large portion of the staff will leave if it does unexpectedly... I wouldn't be worried though, you are in good hands with admin(don't underestimate him as it seems many of you are).

Just make your own thread in this subforum, keep it constructive though... saying 'roll back to vBulletin' is far from constructive and completely unrealistic, as much as some of you guys may want it isn't not happening.

OCN always has a little decrease in activity with big game releases. Plus, we were down for over a day, that isn't good. Chipp said according to analytics, we're doing just fine.

Just my 2 cents, I love the new layout. It finally looks like the stone age has left us. It's a bit slower sure, but on my 2600 its a non-issue and on my iPhone 4S it's also non-issue. In fact the old OCN was impossible to use without tapatalk, this one is very functional via safari.

I don't like the reviews on the sides, I don't like some small things and I do notice it seems like a lot of the forum has left but our pro's are still here, and if you ever have a question it will still get answered so that's really what I have always loved about OCN, and that remains unchanged. By far, I think that is the most important thing.

It took a bit to figure out the new OCN but isn't that what we do? We figure things out, and make our PC's amazing. Anyways, keep up the good work I ain't going anywhere thumb.gif

Toms? Anad? OCN is home. ATM, 1822 active users.
