But most phones do. Even people that can view the site very well have commented on decreased battery life.
If you haven't observed any decline, then it's probably because you're not that observant. The forum code is more complicated - it consumes more bandwidth and takes more CPU time (and battery power) to render. That's a fact - just ask the Huddler devs. I really doubt they'd be putting so much effort into producing a mobile version if it simply weren't an issue - the devs consider it an issue.
I have noticed that it's a tiny bit faster now that Dec 6th has passed. Most pages are loading a few seconds quicker than before. That's reassuring that they're working on it as quickly as they can.
I'm not the only one having no problems on phones, it seems like people say it either runs awesome on their phone or terribly.
I don't know how, but the new site seriously is faster on my phone than the old one. I never said it wasn't an issue, though. I want a mobile skin as bad as anyone else, but it's not because of the speed, it's because of the screen size.
I'd say i'm plenty observant
