Overclocking my i5 2500K

Hi everyone,
I know, by reading that thread, you will probably think (What ? Again a thread about this f*ing i5 o/c ? Can't you use the Search button !)

But my question is quit different from what I found on Internet.

But first, my computer :

Motherboard : ASUS P8P67 M PRO
Processor : Intel i5 2500K OC 4.5Ghz
4x4Go DDR3 2133 Mhz 9-11-9-28
Graphic Card : MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC
SSD : Corsair Serie 3 120Go
Power : Corsair 650W

You must know that I'm kinda noob in overclock, I started one week ago, so here's what happened :

I overclocked my CPU to 4.5Ghz, but if i let my RAM at 2133Mhz, IBT won't pass, and if I lower the value to 1866 or 1600, then IBT will pass !
Is that normal ? And why this happen ? I didn't change any other value between the two test, juste the RAM frequency.

BLCK : 100
Multi : 45
PLL : enabled
LLC : disabled
Spread : disabled
ATV : 0.064
Offset : +0.005
Max Vcore : 1.320
Ram latency : 9-11-9-28

By the way, I saw a lot of people overclocking them i5 2550K using 1600Mhz memories, so I'm asking if it's enough or if it's better to have 2133 for example

Thanks you for you help !

I don't know why people keep disabling LLC. On most boards people have found it easier to get consistent voltages by using it. I reckon ASUS boards run it best at 75% (Ultra High). I've only seen the Vdroop reversal when higher LLC levels are used with over the top overclocks. Most OC guides for SB recommend you use it anyway.
All I did to OC my chip was change my voltages and multiplier, none of those PLL VDroop LLC stuff.

Well, you do not need to change much, just reduce your RAM frequency to 1866 and run IBT at max. Literally no difference between 1866 & 2133

As you read, I'm new in overclocking, and i just followed the thread of TriBeCa here

But i will do some tests with LLC on if you think it's a good idea tongue.gif

So why at first try with 2133, IBT failed, then with 1866 it passed ?

As far as I know, because you have two pairs of RAM sticks it's harder for them to work at default speeds. It's not uncommon to need to loosen timings or lower RAM frequency when overclocking.

Could you post BIOS screenshots so we know what options you have. At 2133mhz assuming that is the stock frequency, you may require a small voltage increase to the VCCIO and as someone already mentioned using using correctly LLC can help with stability.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Here are my Bios screenshots :

I made the IBT with thoses settings and it passed, but prime95 failed after 5 minutes on Core 1
Code:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Is there something wrong in the configurations ? I tried to enable the LLC, I just ran IBT and it passed (but the Core Voltage was higher than without LLC)

EDIT : I have set the ATV from 0.064 to 0.108 and Prime95 seams to last longer (still running)
