[kitguru]Call of duty MW3 PC review

Modern Warfare 3 hasn’t set out to redefine the genre, instead Activision have delivered a solid single player, and two player game which should appease the masses. Unfortunately the online aspects of the game are receiving a lot of criticism from hardcore gamers, and I can see why this would be the case – I lost all interest with the online experience after a single day. I strongly feel they could have achieved more with the title, and that they really should have reworked and enhanced the game engine. It might be fine for Playstation 3 owners, but what about the enthusiast gamers who spend £500-£600 on a new HD6990 or GTX 590? People have every right to feel shortchanged and its killing the PC gaming industry … companies like Nvidia and AMD know it.

Most of the score for this review comes from the single player game, which is fun but nothing out of the ordinary. Sadly it only lasts 6-7 hours and then, if you have a friend at hand you can play the Spec Ops missions. Online didn’t grab me at all and I much prefer the online experience with Battlefield 3. At least they spent some time with balancing and designing a game engine specifically for the PC enthusiast user.

I don't think the news section is meant for reviews. I could be wrong, but I've seen past reviews of games being moved to the PC games forums.

I think we should be happy overall that we got the game, so many companies are turning towards the consoles so there won't be much left for the PC gaming platform .

I disagree. If they're going to sell me trash and market it as gold, then i'm not interested.

Being happy because they said "go through the simple porting process, we'll get probably 500,000 sales" is plainly ridiculous. They'll say: "they're happy about it, let's keep juicing them with mediocre games".

IMO, if they're going to keep pumping out these sad excuses for games, then they might as well become console exclusive. Those are the people who buy every single game that is over-marketed.

The PC platform isn't dying. Developers are still happy to make a couple million sales on PC if they release a good game that is on par with other great PC titles. Heck, GPU sales are also on the rise.

Consoles have taken sales away from PC and hindered development for some titles. For the most part, seeing as games still progressed graphically over the years while maintaining more or less a significance in graphics on the PC platform, even then, it is hard to say how big of a dent that consoles have done to hinder the high-end crowd. Given the mod support, such a small population of gamers also have available resources to push their games to the next level.

Although we have seen many bad turn outs over the years, the PC platform is not dying as suggest by your post "that we should be thankful for this game hitting the PC space". To think otherwise, seeing all the demanding titles released for PC over the years, is quite non sensible. Just like the past, we only saw a few good releases that pushed PC space. The best gaming years have been the 90s, but rest assure, not much (the release of good titles per year) has changed since 2000.
