Some of the advantages I see Apple having other smart phones, including some lesser known qualities.

This is my personal opinion but you won't find anything that's not rooted in solid fact. If I say that music apps are better by far on iOS you can take that to the bank.

1. Appcessories: The iOS ecosystem is bigger, and all the best toys seem to only run on iOS.
  1. jawbone up
  2. guitar rig
  3. those silly helicopters

2. Garageband and iMovie... Content creation on the iphone, etc.
3. Niche apps... the medical, musical, law school, etc
4. Applecare Plus (iP4s only) $99 2 years.... replace phone if broken, wet, broken and wet... $49 each broken phone incident... limit 2 incidents.
5. Siri doesn't edit your speech to text... google speech transcription is very bad even with words like *****, which have legitimate dictionary definitions.

6. The App Store is figuratively a firehose of quality apps. This is a billion dollar market that Apple created and a lot of talent goes into making some great stuff, which is unavailable on other platforms.

7. Apple is the only company that told the carriers where to go to regarding upgrades, and especially bloatware and carrier apps, vcast, etc.

I think one of the reasons accessories such as the guitar rig exist on iOS is that fact that apples devices all have the standardised dock connector, with each device always having it at the bottom. Other ecosystems such has android don't have as many accessories for them due to different models of android phone have their charging connector in different places. For example my HTC desire has the charging connector at the bottom but my mom's Samsung Galaxy Ace has the charging connector at the top. This makes it hard for businesses to develop accessories for android. Every android phone i've seen uses the micro usb connection so once the position of the micro USB connector is standardised accessories can be developed for android too.

Thank you for your input, Guitar Rig actually runs on the headphone input. Apogee has higher quality but more expensive mic/guitar/line inputs that work through the Digital i/o on the dock connector. And there's also...

175

That costs $400 but let's you do a lot of cool stuff, FFT analysis, SPL, reverb times etc...

To be clear the term appcessory is for those items that need a app to function properly and extend the use of the phone.

Speakers, docks, clocks, hdmi output is NOT what I'm talking about.

Things like heart rate monitors, or nike plus or

Appscessory, never heard of that term before, guess you learn something new every day!
From your description of the term things such as the nike plus accessory and them AR drones should be available on other platforms. In fact i've just found out that the AR drone can now be used on android.

In all honesty this is like the PC/Mac computer argument. There are good and bad things about iPhones, and Android. Too each his own. I happen to have used a huge variety of phones and I can assure you, switching between Iphones and Android lately the differences are becoming minimal.

The differences are minimal for you because of your particular use case. For someone who wants to explore the world of music making on a phone, the differences are extreme!

Now of course personal preference comes into your phone choice, and please be understanding that I am expressing a personal opinion that iOS is technically more solid handheld computer platform.

However it is a fact that if you want to use your smartphone to monitor your heart rate. You should choose a platform that you can do that on. its iPhone only.

You're right I don't personally care about music gadgets or a life wristband. I was just stating the things that you feel make the "iphone" better are getting less and less exclusive. With the exception of the latest gadgets everything the iphone gets android gets in time. Also Android phone do have a standard plug its the mini usb, this change was made quite some time ago.

Example, you believe that Iphone's are the only ones that have the capability to monitor your heart rate. I decided to do a google search and was rewarded with my curiosity with the first result back.

In all honesty I like both types of phones, In fact I'm currently using an Iphone. However my all time favorite phone was/is the Droid X. For me there was no phone, that beat it. In fact the only phone that beats it today for the reasons I prefer is the Droid X2.
