In a work setup, it's perfect. I work 8hrs a day. Some renders take me 30min with a i7 950 @ 4ghz. Now with my 3930k @ 4.8ghz, it take less than half the time. Yeah, I'd say "useless" too.
Why all the hatred toward X79? IT'S ENTHUSIAST not mainstream.
Example: I have a Porsche Boxster, the Parsche 911 is pricy and useless, (driving wise)
Considering it was marketed originally as a gaming/enthusiast platform, I disagree.
The Asus X79 Rampage IV Battlefield Edition along with their original press release proves this.
Asus/Other manufacturers scored big by marketing this platform ORIGINALLY as an enthusiast/gaming "utlimate" buy...Which, it clearly isn't.
So while you call them retarded, it's a blatant FACT, that it was marketed towards that genre.
Later in the game, Intel changed their marketing schematic but, how many gamers do you think bought into that hype? MANY of you.
As a workstation, it's amazing...I have one in the office...But, in regards to what it was marketed as...It was originally aimed and marketed as something very different than what you use it as so, at least have some respect in that regards.
It's also not exactly an enthusiast platform because it's not even optimized for benching yet...So if enthusiast in your language = pissing money away than, yes...Because for the same price as that 911, a Skyline can be had for half and would make you look like a fool on any track...
