6970...should i get it? - Page 2

Just based on price, yea. That's why I bought my 6970, it was 270 after MIB. But, I've had a pretty miserable experience getting it playing good with new games (BF3 and Skyrim being the obvious culprits). I've spent more time tweaking than playing, which wasn't my experience with the 560 I bought first (upgraded).

I say wait, it will give AMD time to get its **** together or let you jump ship.

I am extraordinarily satisfied with my Sapphire 6970. Unlike the guy above me, I've had absolutely no problems getting it to play high end games. I don't use a 1080 monitor, just a 1600x900. I max out every single ultra setting in Battlefield 3 and play all day. No issues at all. I wasn't willing to pay the high prices of the new 7000s when they come out, so I jumped on this to replace my dead 4650 and couldn't be happier.

I have the same card and my experiences are exactly the same. I've been rocking Skyrim @ 16800x1050 with everything maxed. There are a couple minor graphical glitches looking at far-off mountains, but nothing that affects performance. Great card!

IT is a good price to get . But I think Asus's fans is not very powerful and quiet. I prefer gigabyte's graphic cards

To be fair, the card does do a great job with today's games. I get perfectly playable FPS in Skyrim and BF3 maxed out at 1080p (no AA for BF3 though). It's the stuttering issues (especially with vsync, even at a solid 60 fps) that has killed the experience for me. Not saying you will have the same problems being that the stuttering issues don't pop up in all configs, but it's a possibility. But, all you lose is ~$10 shipping the card back for a return I guess.
