Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced $80
Total: $836 before tax and shipping
All on Newegg except for the 2500k
You do NOT want X58 on a 1k build
EDIT: Oh, and you might want to look at the CM Hyper 212+/evo
and the HAF 912/922/932

Nice.

Yeah OP I'd do that..

I'd get this PSU while it's on Shell Shocker though, or this gorgeous SeaSonic X Series for $100. Gold class and modular.. om nom nom nom

If you are going to buy the CPU from Micro Center, you might as well get the Mobo there as well. Micro Center always has CPU+Mobo combo deals. All of the other choices are pretty solid.

FyreBurn, thanks bro, it is a SATA 7200. I can't thank you guys enough! I really liked the Red and black but hey I can always change things up in a couple of years. I just need to get the ball rolling on this. I am wondering if maybe I should wait till they have those black friday sales but I don't know for sure if they will have anything I need at the moment. Besides I know my self, I would probably post it here looking for an answer and it'll be too late by then, things really sell out quickly on NewEgg! I was going to wait for the Sapphire Toxic 6950 but Those are gone now and I think for quite sometime.

If you want Red and Black, you can get the Asrock Fatal1ty boards. The Maximus is kinda overpriced. If you aint in a hurry or anything, you can get a z68 board with video output and then wait for the next gen cards. If you are going for onboard video, make sure your board has video output.

Great boards for the value are P8Z68 Asus, Asrock Extreme4 Gen3. Stick with Asus and Asrock if possible for this platform of CPUs.

The reason you wanna wait for the next gen cards are that, they are coming out in 2 months or so, and they are supposedly less power hungry by a significant percent and also a lot more powerful than the current video cards. You can also get the current cards 2nd hand for cheap at that time.

HDD's are not worth the price they're at right now. I suggest getting an ssd around 128gb in the meantime and when you need more space and as hdd prices are back down, you could slap in 1 tb or something. SSD is also very worth it wink.gif

When you say on board video do you mean like how most mobo come with a sound card?? So need for a Video card? I think a separate video card would be much better right?

I am actually looking at a few SSD on new egg right now lol. I don't know much about SSD's, so I havent made any decisions on getting one yet. From what I understand, they are smaller and faster but aren't large in terms of capacity just yet? Being out of the game for as long as I was really screwed me up. redface.gif

I was thinking about getting the H80. Not sure if I will get it now or around christmas. I forgot my girl offered to buy me something for around 200 bucks. Maybe she can buy the water cooling set up. Even if I don't get it now, I know I wont be OCing just yet so there wouldnt be much of a need for it, right?

the hyper 212+ can handle a little oc from a SB cpu smile.gif worth the monies

If only have a 160gb drive, go ahead and get the 128ssd. Use the 160gb as a data drive. The way the OS snaps is amazing.

EDIT: if your going to "wait" on a gpu till next gen, get a 5770 or a 460. The IGP on the 2500k wont be able to game very well.

I'm glad you didn't build off a dying platform like the x58 and 1366 chipset. I would highly recommend as with everyone else on this thread to go with a 2500k it can't be beat for price/performance. The 6950 card is a good choice because there is about a 40-50% to unlock it to 6970 shadders which would be the best bang for the buck. A 650watt psu will be all the power you will need for this build and I wouldn't go over 750watts just make sure it's 80plus certified and crossfire/sli compatible because it sucks having to buy a new psu just to crossfire or go sli later down the road. Your mind will be blown once you get this rig together and play it for the first time. lol. Good luck
