Smoke....

Thread Starter
recently re-set up my computer with new fans for my h50 and a fan controller and custom fans.

So i put it back together and just turned it on to see if it would work. I notcied the pump in my h50 turned on but other fans didnt turn on. PSU fan was on and HDD was making a sound. Smoke also came out of a burning plug in my PSU.

I sleeved a few of my cables but im sure i put the pins back in correctly. Anyones help would be appreciated, also bought a new gfx card so im just hoping that is still workable.

THanks

Sleeving is more than likely the culprit even if you think it was perfect :\

Could also be the power supply being old (if possible) and just not having the power for the new additions, but normally they have overload protection.

Recheck your sleeves if possible?

You most likely put the wires back into the wrong slots by accident.

ok!

So the computer is not burning anymore after i re pinned the cable that smoked. smile.gif

The fan controller is on now however the fans when i set them to 100% dont do anything. My fan controller is a Lamptron touchscreen.

You might have fried the fan controller. Considering that it's probably the most cheaply build component in your system, if something was to burn out it would probably be the first to go :/

edit: Are the fans only not working when set to 100%? They might be drawing too much current from the fan controller, especially if they're high-rpm fans.

Burnt out?

The touchscreen panel is on and i can change fan options.

No, the fans don't seem to work at any percentage, despite being connected to the controller...

Fans are connected into the controller, controller turns on with computer... But fans aren't spinning on any percentage. :s

Have you tried the fans in the mobo headers to see if they still work?
