Asus EeePC 1215n will not recharge battery - Page 2

Yeah its an odd problem. After A couple of random recharges my battery went completely dead and I have been running on the charger alone since then. I even opened the battery up and inspected the cells . I used a car battery charger on them and they charged up fine so my conclusion was that the fault was the batteries control chip. I would have gotten a new battery but they are so expensive (80€ without shipping) that I decided not to.

It really sucks to as battery life was one of the key features of the 1215N. Warranty really should start covering batteries as IMO its unexceptable that a battery totally fails in less then 2 years mad.gif

I too am having this same problem. However I own 4 of these exact models and I can tell you it is not the battery. I can move the battery around to any of the other three and it will charge and hold the charge just fine. Put a fully charged battery on this unit and boot it up. While it's still booting the battery charge indicator shows it to be charging until it completes the boot up process. As soon as it finishes booting the light begins to flash and the indicator goes to 0% One of the other laptops did the same thing but then after a few days it mysteriously corrected the problem itself. I believe it has something to do with the bios. I am still trying to figure this out. If I do I'll post it. Or perhaps someone has already found the solution, if so let me know.

I've been having this problem for the past year and a half. I've tried new batteries, restarting bios, reinstalling battery drivers- nothing works. Once out of the blue it started working (with the old battery in) but it only lasted about a month. It's not the battery, it's the ASUS hardware that is at fault. Tried contacting them and they remain indignant.

Well I guess its a good thing I didn't buy a new battery then. It really suck as I other wise liked the laptop. Now I rarely if every use it as it has no mobility.

For years Asus has been one of my favorite brands but after this I'l be looking in to other brands.
