[EGM] Parents name child after Skyrim character, gets free Bethesda games for life

Before the release of Skyrim, Bethesda stated that any parents who named their child after a Skyrim character would get a reward. They probably didn’t expect anyone to actually do it. They were wrong.
Megan and Eric Kellermeyer have named their son Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer, or if translated, ’Dragon born Tom Kellermeyer’.

As promised Bethesda has awarded the child with free Bethesda games for the rest of his life and had the following to say:
“Be it the real world or the game worlds we create, we wish young Dovahkiin the best in all his adventures. And if Alduin ever reaches this realm, we’ll be in touch.”

Source

Why would anyone.... sigh.

This made me laugh, but I do think it is a cool name, as with the parents so if they like it good for them

He also probably got a job interview with that company in the future. And will probably got the job too unless he royally screws up the interview.

It's not like they're naming him pooh bear or something. Dovahkiin is awesome.

Many people name kids after WoW characters as well.

I remember an article during TBC saying some parents had named their kid illidan (after illidan stormrage).

As long as it's not something really off the wall (although I would love to see a kid called Majordomo Executus) I don't see much of a problem with it...beats being called Dave biggrin.gif

(no offense to the daves smile.gif)

My dauthers middle name is Aerith which is the japanese version of Aeris from FF7. I didn't totally want too screw her up by making it her first name.

50 bucks he will get teased about his name in the future.

If I wanted a Skyrim-referenced name for my kid, I would defintiely call him Alduin, THAT is awesome. Naming your child Dovahkiin, is like a one way ticket to Bullyville.

Parents should think about their child's future more when they name kids, a name affects a person's life.

Well, at least Dovahkiin can call himself Tom.

I also think it's a cool name. You can always make a nickname.

Well if any bullies try to mess with him he can dragonshout them and they will go flying! In all seriousness, Dovakin doesnt sound much different than names of other new immigrants to countries, doesnt mean they should be bullied.
