Corsair XMS3 Issue

Thread Starter
I've had the mobo, cpu and ram setup for about 8 months now. Just this week I water cooled my setup and installed in my new Cosmos case. I was waiting to do any overclocking until i had good cooling. Now it's all cooled and I've overclocked my 950 to 4 ghz. I was looking at CPU-Z and my memory was under clocked. I have the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145258. I'm new to OCing, but I attempted to change the speed of the ram in the bios, but everytime i tried to get the ram up to 1600 mhz, my system wouldn't post. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or why my ram is under clocked. Here's a screenshot.

My memory when i oc'ed my 920 to 4.0.....got calculated to 1508mhz or somethign like that...

are you talking about the 696mhz you see in cpuz?

if so...it does that...its some multiple of something...i also would like to know why its like that

does your bios post your memory clock? you will see the true one there for sure

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1860328 <-- thats my cpuz validation...see my mhz?

The DRAM freq you're seeing is half of the actual speed.

Just times that number by 2 to get your actual RAM speed (695.5*2 = 1391Mhz)

edit-

also the higher the timings the less the performance.
So 8-8-8-22 is better than 9-9-9-24.

Raising the timings often also allows you to raise the Mhz. Thus you should put the timings at their stock value, and overclock the Mhz by itself (either through adjusting the BClk or the RAM divider (RAM divider is kinda like the CPU multiplier)).

I would set the timings back to 9-9-9-24 and try to set the RAM at 1600Mhz
